Activities at Ashlar House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Rita Green

As the Community Engagement Lead and Lifestyle Coordinator, I will be spending time with each resident and their loved ones to build a detailed picture of each individual, so that each person’s stay with us is as meaningful as possible.  Although I have been working within this field for many years, thanks to the uniqueness of each resident, I am always enjoying new experiences in my role. My goal is to create an activities programme that caters to the capabilities of residents, including, but not limited to, individual and group activity.

I've spent the past few years forging strong relationships within the community and developing a pool of talented individuals that can support our in-house team to bring out the best in those we care for.

As we never stop growing and changing, it is important that we maintain an up-to-date Getting To Know Me booklet. With your help, the activities scheduled for your loved ones will be as relevant and enjoyable as possible.
I’m very much looking forward to working with all of you.

Father's Day

Father's Day is a special occasion dedicated to honouring and appreciating the incredible fathers in our lives. It's a time to express gratitude and love for the unwavering support, guidance, and love they provide us.

One of the best ways to convey our heartfelt emotions is through beautiful Father's Day at Ashlar House we displayed a Sunday relaxing event with Snacks & Beers, games of Darts & Golf and more.

What a wonderful way to spend our father days Sunday with our residents and their families.

Checkmate!

Last Friday it was checkmate♟️

Outdoor chess table located in Stonards Hill in Epping was officially unveiled to the public.

This project was Inspired by a recent resurgence of interest in chess, the Rotary Club of Epping held events, sponsored by Treehouse Nurseries, to raise money for the chess table and chairs which add a new and engaging activity in the park for visitors of all ages where people can connect and yet enjoy outdoor games.

Barchester Ashlar House Residents, families and staff along with Coopersale Hall School year 7 Chess team players and their supporters had a wonderful time watching the chess pro against Atilla age 12 who won fair and square, definitely the benefits him attending his chess club at school has polished his thinking skills.

Message from Ellen accompany with Epping Tesco Champion – Claire

It was lovely to get out in the community with Claire our community champion at Epping Tesco and deliver some donations of lovely food and drink hampers to some of the local places such as Ashlar house who welcomed us to an shown around of the home and saw the 105th Resident in person after reading Joyce in the community Facebook. Thank you to the home manager Sharon and the team making care home a better place, we had also visited Open Box, St Clares Hospice and Princess Alexandra Hospital.

In times like the current cost of living crisis it is more important to support families to still have time together without the worry of can we get a cup of tea and a snack, hence why Tesco has reached out to support.

Welcome back to our little pre-schoolers from Bright Horizon Nursery

The Children say the most comical things. Many residents may not have any grandchildren in their life and would otherwise miss out on the fun of being in the company of children,

The children brought a warming smile and enjoyment to our house. A set project will be set monthly. This visit was creative thinking.
