Activities at Ashlar House Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Rita Green

As the Community Engagement Lead and Lifestyle Coordinator, I will be spending time with each resident and their loved ones to build a detailed picture of each individual, so that each person’s stay with us is as meaningful as possible.  Although I have been working within this field for many years, thanks to the uniqueness of each resident, I am always enjoying new experiences in my role. My goal is to create an activities programme that caters to the capabilities of residents, including, but not limited to, individual and group activity.

I've spent the past few years forging strong relationships within the community and developing a pool of talented individuals that can support our in-house team to bring out the best in those we care for.

As we never stop growing and changing, it is important that we maintain an up-to-date Getting To Know Me booklet. With your help, the activities scheduled for your loved ones will be as relevant and enjoyable as possible.
I’m very much looking forward to working with all of you.

Activities and Events Partnerships

St John Church Christmas Fair

With much regret the Christmas Market did not go ahead with the ongoing high winds.

The local community kept the spirits up by attending the St John Church Christmas Fair.

Coopersale Hall School Choir sang beautifully this morning, local residents united to sponsor a tree and brought a gift or two for their loved ones.

The younger years at the school even wrote an little message for Ashlar House Residents which is hanging on the prayers Christmas Tree.

Keep safe and warm everyone!

Ashlar House was proud to have the wonderful talented Optimum Theatre School this evening singing Christmas Carols to our Residents-Family’s and staff.

Everyone had a fantastic time listening to the young singers who were very professional not a note
Out of place.

They were so good the residents asked for another song.

Well done you all brought joy-smiles to our residents faces,

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Getting in the Christmas Spirit

As Ashlar House Residents says goodbye to November. We are now getting into the spirit of December which only means one thing, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

A few residents went to see the rehearsal of The Big Little Nativity at Ivy Chimneys Primary School then later to St John Church to watch the Xmas Show performed by Coopersale Hall School.

In the afternoon, we were so happy and excited to welcome back Tracy Lea, kicking off the festive spirits by singing Christmas songs to our residents, families and staff for all to enjoy.

Remberence Sunday

Ashlar house paid their respects to the men and women - horses and dogs who fought the war for us so we can carry on living our lives today.

Our very own resident Herbert wanted to pay his respect with his best friend SGT David.

Herbert joined the RAF in 1955 as an electrician working on many aeroplane he left in 1960 and decided to join the police as a beat copper for 28 years.

Herbert received a Medal for his general service in Cyprus and a Police medal for his long service.

Herbert was given a Georgian medal in 1959 being in the 208 squad who help the king of Jordan but sadly this medal was not recognised due to not enough people being there to warrant the medal.

Thank you to the Air cadets squadron 414 marching with Herbert and his best friend.
