Activities at Broadway Halls Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Scott Bates
Hi I'm Scott, and I am privileged to be the Activities Co-ordinator at Broadway Halls.
Our Residents are special people with many wonderful stories to tell about their lives, and it is my job to understand their life history, their interests and theirs needs in order to deliver a person centred life enrichment programme.
I enjoy putting smiles on their faces as often as I can. I love to entertain and aim to ensure that every resident's interests and hobbies are supported. I have worked in care and in activities in previous roles, and I love my job!
Outside of work, I am busy being a Father, I try to play football and have a keen interest in metal detecting.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Salsa Dancing for Strength
Our residents tried something new with a salsa dance workout! Aiming to strengthen muscles, salsa dancing is good for stretching and movement.
Residents learnt different moves in a chair or standing up depending on their mobility. The activity helped with posture and strengthen everyday muscles.
There was so much fun and lots of laugher going on, it didn’t even feel like a workout! Afterwards residents got into the salsa mood with a bit of fancy dress, then relaxed with a nice drink and a little siesta.
Birthday Wish Come True
A wish came true for a resident on his special birthday!
Happy 60th Birthday to Derek! Derek asked if he could go to a garden centre with family members for his birthday.
Our Lead Activities Co-ordinator at Broadway Halls, Scott, arranged with Derek and his family to go to Hollybush Garden Centre & Aquaria in our minibus and make a day of it.
Derek enjoyed his cake at the cafe, looked around the aquatics at all the different fish, and looked at the small pets and birds.
Derek said “What a fantastic day I have had spending quality time with my family, thank you for making my birthday special."
Welcoming 2024 at our New Years' Day Party
Residents enjoyed a New Year’s Day Party with a 1950s and 1960s themed disco, complete with snacks and a selection of beverages that were served and enjoyed throughout the day.
Staff, families and residents were all up on the dance floor, dancing the day away. The songs also brought back so many amazing memories so there was plenty of chatting and reminiscing about years gone by and the wonderful things to come.
It was a great start to 2024 here at Broadway Halls!
Panto at Broadway!
The team at Broadway Halls entertained residents and families with their Pantomime. Our brilliant staff got into costume for their one-off performance of Cinderella!
There was fun and laughter by all, the panto was unrehearsed which made the performance even more entertaining for everyone to see - a unique version of Cinderella if we do say so ourselves!
Thank you to everyone that made this possible and thanks for the huge support we had from everyone who came to watch.
Visit from the Mayor of Dudley & Townsguild Ladies Choir
What a fantastic day at Broadway Halls! The wonderful TG Singers - Sedgley entertained us with their Christmas choir, where they sang classic Christmas hits, each with a different message. They even had a special guest in the audience in Cllr Andrea Goddard, Mayor of Dudley. We were honoured to introduce Andrea to our residents and stuff and give her a tour of the home after the performance.
As a surprise to us, Sedgley E Townswomen's Guild led a community project to make crafty christmas trees from knitted and crocheted squares (one in All Saints Church and one in St Chad’s Church, Coseley). As they couldn’t bring trees to show residents, they made additional squares into blankets to donate. We were very lucky and received a blanket to keep!
Thank you for your kind gift, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all at Broadway Halls.
Priory Primary School's Carol Concert
Thank you to Priory Primary School for letting us attend the pupils' festive carol and Christmas show at St Francis' Church in Dudley.
We popped along with some of our residents, who really enjoyed the festive show and their own version of some traditional Christmas songs. They really made it their own, subtley swapping the classic 5 'gold rings' in the 12 Days of Christmas with 5 Brussel sprouts instead! We were also surprised to see some family members of one of our residents in the concert - she was over the moon to see them.
We had a wonderful time, thank you to Priory Primary School for inviting us!
