Activities at Broadway Halls Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Scott Bates

Activities Coordinator

Hi I'm Scott, and I am privileged to be the Activities Co-ordinator at Broadway Halls.

Our Residents are special people with many wonderful stories to tell about their lives, and it is my job to understand their life history, their interests and theirs needs in order to deliver a person centred life enrichment programme.

I enjoy putting smiles on their faces as often as I can. I love to entertain and aim to ensure that every resident's interests and hobbies are supported. I have worked in care and in activities in previous roles, and I love my job!

Outside of work, I am busy being a Father, I try to play football and have a keen interest in metal detecting.

Coronation Garden Party

What an amazing day at our coronation garden party. Want to say a big thank you to everyone that supported us. Thanks to Tesco in Dudley for donations of snacks and cakes for the party.

A massive thanks to the entertainment, the people who gave up there time just to entertain us. Paulo Pinto, Alex, Olivia(pianists) Susie, Staff, and resident's families. Also, to our neighbour who said "what a wonderful day I’ve had from my garden listening to all the music" and asked he could come and sing. The weather was perfect just like the day we had.

National Museum Day

It was National Museum Day yesterday, Residents got the chance to go to The Royal Air Force Museum Midlands at RAF Cosford, it was such an amazing day seeing all the old planes from both world wars and other vehicles, residents and staff got the chance to dress up in different RAF job roles.

A visit to The Priory Primary School in Dudley

We Visited The Priory Primary School in Dudley to hand out letters to the pupils who have been connecting with our residents.

Over the Easter Period pupil’s made our residents Easter cards and sent hand written letters telling them about their school life and what hobbies they enjoy. Pupil’s asked the residents questions about their school life when they were young and what hobbies they used to enjoy and participate in now. Some of our residents got the chance to go to the school and personally hand out the letters which they had written, it was special to see the bond between the two generations talking about their school experiences and their likes and dislikes.

We are continuing this project with the Priory and look forward to many more letters and visits.

Coronation celebrations with family

Excitement was in the air at Broadway Halls care home in Dudley where residents and staff have been busy making Coronation-themed decorations and baking up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries with the help of head chef Olivia in preparation for the King’s Coronation.

Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a King.  Over the bank holiday weekend the home held a day long party with live singers and entertainment.  The weather was sunny on the Sunday so the celebrations were held in the garden, residents families joined in the fun during the day too.  The whole home came together to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering.  One local neighbour popped over to say thank you for the entertainment he had been enjoying from his garden and he ended up singing for everyone!
