Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Lucia Pivetta

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Lucia and I'm one of the Activities Coordinators here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Collingtree Park Care Home

Happy Easter

At Collingtree Park our residents with dementia have enjoyed making Easter cards for family and friends. Colouring pictures is a very enjoyable activity and the Easter season generated conversations about family traditions, church and how much we enjoy chocolate.

Pamela and Tracey step out for dementia

Pamela, a new resident at Collingtree Park, often joins Tracey, the home’s Administrator, as she tops up her steps for the Alzheimer’s Society Step Up for Dementia challenge to walk 850,000 steps from March to May. Alzheimer’s Society chose this number of steps as there are currently 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK. Tracey is on target to achieve her goal by walking 3 miles every evening after work and 10 miles at the weekend. She has raised £600 so far towards her £1000 sponsorship target. Collingtree Park welcomes residents with dementia and is pleased to support this charity. Pamela likes to join Tracey for a walk around the garden at Collingtree Park as she used to walk 5 miles a day with her dogs - she asks Tracey about her step count every day. Keep going, Tracey!

Knit and Natter

We are getting on well with our knitting project to make fingerless gloves for Northamptonshire Community Foundation's Winter Wellbeing Campaign. Collingtree Park resident, Joan, aged 100, has years of knitting experience and has been teaching General Manager Natalie how to knit, with the help of team members Debbie and Lindsay, at our Knit and Natter Club. (Natalie is trying hard but needs a bit more practice!)

Eleanor holds hands with Fiona

Eleanor was overwhelmed to receive a visit in her bedroom from her daughter Fiona. This was one of the first hand-holding visits at Collingtree Park by a designated person, allowed under new guidance issued by the Government on 4th March. Mother and daughter both felt emotional about their in-person reunion which was just before Mother's Day. Collingtree Park’s carers helped Eleanor get ready for her special visit by setting her hair in curlers and painting her nails. Fiona was happy to follow our infection control protocols which include Lateral Flow Tests and PPE for indoor visitors. This was a happy day for everyone.

Having a laugh on Comic Relief Day

We had a hysterical Comic Relief Day, wearing our Covid-safe interpretation of a red nose. We chose a 1980s theme for our fun, which many of our team loved (and still had the clothes for)!

Celebrating St Patrick's Day

Residents at Collingtree Park thoroughly enjoyed celebrating St Patrick’s Day. We had a little taste of Ireland, sampling some soda bread with Irish butter and Irish cheddar, and some of the famous Kimberley biscuits, all followed by a little drop of Irish cream liquer. Later we enjoyed a quiz about St Patrick and a virtual performance of Riverdance by Michael Flatley. We all enjoyed a great day, especially Herbert, our resident from Ireland.
