Activities at Fairview House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.
Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.
Fairview House Activities Team
Chloe, Cecilia and Veronica make up our fantastic Activities Team here at Fairview House.
They develop and oversee an active living programme for each resident, which encourages mobility, social contact, independence and fun. Each and every person can thrive and live to their full potential with no day ever being the same. They bring great enthusiasm and spark to the home and have one passion, which is to deliver an amazing and vibrant activities programme to cater to all tastes and abilities.

Life at Fairview House Care Home
Welcome to the G&J pub
A father’s Day special where we celebrated In style with pints of lager and cupcake decorating! It was a full house with a buzz like no other…or was that the beer? Whatever the case, everyone was overjoyed and covered in cake by the end of the day!
What the hoot!?
Did someone say owls? That’s right we had the luxury of welcoming owls into the home not only were they magnificent to look at but we even go to hold them and stroke them! Our favourite was Gizmo the giant Snowy Owl!
National Trust talk
Our homes had a fantastic time joining National Trust Talks Service team at Cliveden House for an inspirational talk on Nancy Astor – the first woman to take a seat in the House of Commons.
Our residents had the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating life of Nancy and her political career. As the first women MP, she experienced both attention and scandal throughout her life, which led to many triumphs and numerous disasters. The talk was truly enjoyed by all.
Celebrating carers week
Happy Carers Week! We would like to take this great opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful carers here at the home.
We are proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.
Home joins Veterans lunch
Staff and residents from Barchester’s Fairview care home, in Danestone had a fantastic time visiting The Veteran’s Breakfast Club at Brig O’ Don Pub & Grill where they all enjoyed taking part in a wonderful get together making new friends with delicious bacon rolls organised by Aberdeen funeral directors with visitors from Poppy Scotland and ex - service men.
Residents and the activities team had a brilliant time chatting about Scotland, highland games and the military service with a range of unlimited teas and coffee’s throughout the morning.
Eddie a resident at Fairview House said: “We have all had the most wonderful time visiting the Brig O’ Don, I enjoyed the company and would love to come back again and meet more people”
Floral decorations with Ferndown
Our homes had a lovely time joining Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florist for an intriguing flower arrangement workshop in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Our residents enjoyed a wonderful virtual demonstration and got inspired to create their own flower posies for our Jubilee displays. Our home will be specially decorated for the upcoming festivities. Stay tuned.
