Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Vincent Van Gogh Birthday

Vincent was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in Western art history.

To mark what would have been his birthday, we took a virtual visit to the Van Gogh Museum to explore his paintings, letters written by him and his biography.

Our residents got involved in a themed afternoon tea where Van Gogh Games were had alongside a fun filled quiz by Oomph.

Doughnut Cart

The activities team provided some extra yummy treats for our residents and created their very own Donut Cart!

After all who doesn't love donuts?

With our trolley set up and napkins ready we went round every room ensuring every one got a wonderful donut and for those who didn't like a donut we had some fabulous milkshakes instead!

Mother’s Day Surprise

Residents were treated to flower arranging workshops and a beautiful surprise to their door in celebration of mother’s day. Residents were delighted and received the most loving notes from staff. During workshops residents used flowers to decorate fish bowls before filling them with water and using them as dining room table decorations, they sure do brighten up the room!

Sip and Paint Fundraiser for Ukraine

Residents came together in tough times and worked hard to create beautiful paintings in the shapes of hearts whilst sipping tea and coffee, these beautiful pieces were  then turned into prints in order to raise money to aid Ukraine in their current crisis.

Residents Raised over £40.00 selling their incredible artworks which will be donated to Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal.

‘My Name is Not Wigs’ Virtual Talk

We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’.

‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!

Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day.

All in all the afternoon was an absolute triumph!

Scrap Book Afternoon

We had decided to bring residents together and spend a lovely afternoon scrap booking some of the things we loved to do.

We was also treated today to a lovely reminiscing session by Alan from Alzheimer Scotland and Aberdeen Library. It's been interesting what we have learned about George Street and bon accord centre.

Everyone is already eager to hear more in another session in future months to come about union Street!
