Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Life at Fairview House Care Home

,

Nescafe virtual experience

We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience. We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.

To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.

London Fashion Week at Fairview House

Here at Fairview House we marked London’s Fashion Week in style.

We looked through fashion magazines and learnt more about the Swinging Sixties, typified by Mary Quant, Ossie Clark and Bárbara Hulanicki, through to Vivienne Westwood’s punk provocations and Alexander McQueen’s dark and dramatic visions and London’s long legacy of producing extraordinary designs.

We reminisced and discussed what fashion means to our residents and everyone had the opportunity to talk about their favourite outfits.

We even organised our own mini fashion show, which went down a hit!

Everyone had lots of fun.

Love is in the air at Fairview House

It's valentines day, and what better way to fill a day of love then with a wonderful valentines lunch, followed by Jackie Prolly singing for us and of course it wouldn't be valentines day if we didn't have chocolate covered strawberries courtesy of our wonderful chef.

We also wanted to take the time to thank family as we recently had an influx of donations from you all. We now have some wonderful crafts, football items, baking items and more added to our activities corner.

It was a wonderful day enjoyed by all!

Mystery Box Fun at Fairview House

It's mystery box time! Each month we prep, plan and create wonderful themed mystery boxes for residents to enjoy. This month our Box was valentines day themed! We have worked hard to provide a variety of activities in each box from archery with heart arrows to reminiscing about the things we love.

Our residents loved these activities and our activities staff work hard to go around rooms of residents to ensure nobody misses out that want to take part.

Valentines preparations in full swing at Fairview House!

Preparations for Valentine’s Day are in full swing at Fairview House. Residents and staff had a lovely time writing messages of love on our special wall and crafting some beautiful cards!

A day filled with lots of love and laughs!

Smiles all round at Fairview House

We kicked off this week with a bang! The home was full of dancing and singing as we listened to some of our favourite songs being played.

Andy is a singer guitarist and was one of the admins for the lockdown live Aberdeenshire page during covid. To get back into the groove of things Andy has kindly provided some excellent entertainment for us and it's safe to say residents and staff had a wonderful time.

Thanks, Andy. We can't wait for you to visit again!
