Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

World Health Day

Today, as part of the celebrations for World Health Day, Fountains residents took part in a variety of healthy activities, and learnt all about the benefits of living a well-balanced, healthy lifestyle.

And, as we wanted to make the most of the opportunity to thank our fantastic healthcare workers here at Fountains (and reflect on all of the good works over the last year) our residents spent a lovely afternoon making beautiful ‘thank you’ cards and were delighted to be able to hand them out.

Our carers have gone above and beyond in looking after our residents, supporting them and keeping them safe and comfortable, and everyone is very grateful to them.

So a big Thank You to the Fountains Care team – and to healthcare workers everywhere for your continued hard work.

Easter Sunday fun

Fountains residents and staff had an egg-cellant day celebrating Easter together.

The day began with a special breakfast of French Toast with Berry Compote, freshly prepared by our wonderful kitchen team.

Later, traditional roast lamb was served and everyone enjoyed a delicious Easter feast together.

Of course, no Easter would be complete without a visit from the Easter Bunny courtesy of our fabulous activity co-ordinator Esme. Our residents were not disappointed and were delighted with their delivery of chocolate  eggs, which they enjoyed with a lovely cup of tea in the sunshine

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend filled with love and lots of chocolate, just like we have.

Easter celebrations

Fountains’ residents and staff have enjoyed a host of Easter-themed activities this holiday. From painting colourful salt-dough eggs, to decorating our wickedly chocolatey Easter cake, it’s been great fun for us all.

We also took advantage of the glorious sunshine and relaxed in our beautiful gardens, sampling some delicious Hot Cross buns too.

It’s been a wonderful week and all of our residents are in good spirits, ready for Easter Sunday.

Happy Easter from everyone here at Fountains!

Easter inspired flower arranging

Residents at Fountains enjoyed an Easter flower arranging session with Sue which was our third zoom class in recent months.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed making daffodil pots for our Easter Sunday centre pieces.

Our residents are becoming quite skilled at flower arranging, using cocktail sticks to secure the daffodil stems and ribbon to decorate.

The pots would not have been complete without a few Easter chicks.

A lovely way to spend Maundy Thursday.

Happy Easter everyone! ?

Vera Lynn remembered

Residents and staff at Fountains celebrating the life of Vera Lynn. The morning was spent enjoying a show of “Dame Vera live at the BBC”

Everyone had fun singing along to their favourite songs & enjoying the memories these songs evoked. It turned into a lovely reminisce session.

In the afternoon everyone enjoyed a delicious English tea party to continue the celebrations. Our talented hospitality team prepared an impressive selection of sandwiches with freshly baked scones accompanied with cream and jam, mini cakes and delicious flapjacks too.

It was a lovely day and a perfect way to celebrate and remember Vera Lynn.

Ides of March

Fountains residents and staff  took part in activities based around the ‘Ides of March.’ Although traditionally this mid-March occasion was an excuse for a celebration, thanks to William Shakespeare the date is now more commonly known as a reference to the assassination of Julius Caesar.

To mark the occasion, our residents enjoyed a fascinating documentary on Ancient Rome. This led to a pre-lunch discussion on how different life would have been back then. During the afternoon everyone feasted on Roman dishes and lived like the emperors themselves.

Our kitchen team created a superb spread of cheeses, fruits and nuts, dates, yogurts and apples drizzled with honey . And of course, the feasting was washed down with a glass of wine for everyone. Residents very much enjoyed sampling a Roman banquet and discovering how life was lived two thousand years ago… Great food, fine wine and good company – perhaps life back then wasn’t so different.
