Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Louise Crooks

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Louise,  my first role with Barchester was caring for our residents.  Previously I worked in an early years environment for 17 years where I organised activities and events.  I am thrilled to now be Activities Lead and being able to continue enriching the life’s of our lovely residents here at Fountains.

The King’s birthday celebrated

Residents enjoyed celebrating Elvis Presley’s birthday with an Elvis themed quiz, rock ‘n’ roll and enjoying his most famous film “Blue Hawaii”.

Whilst Elvis was remembered he looked over our residents in cardboard cut out form!

We were all amazed by our very own super fan resident, Jennifer, who knew all the answers in our quiz and absolutely smashed it.

Residents enjoyed a fantastic performance by our resident couple who need no excuse to hit the dancefloor and after all that excitement the celebrations were rounded off by relaxing and enjoying “Blue Hawaii” with coffee and cake.

Happy Birthday Elvis!

Veganuary 2021

Residents at Fountains began Veganuary with baking some vegan chocolate cookies.

Residents were interested to take part in Veganuary and learn more about vegan ingredients. It was a new experience for most to work with plant based butter, soya milk and vegan chocolate.

There was a tasting activity of the ingredients before the baking began and the residents enjoyed them, particularly the chocolate!

The end result was enjoyed with a glass of plant based milk and everyone enjoyed the experience.

Watch this space for our next vegan attempt during Veganuary.

New Year gift for residents

Residents received their first round of covid-19 vaccine at Fountains!!

GP Russell and GP Kotecha from Solihull Healthcare Partnership visited Fountains to administer the vaccine.

Residents were genuinely excited to receive their vaccine and it gave everyone such a feeling of hope for the future. What a positive start to 2021!

The second round of vaccination will be administered at a later date.

Resident Phyllis said that the vaccine was “the first step to getting back to normal life”.

We second that Phyllis!

Christmas Donations

Fountains were overwhelmed with the generosity from the local community when we appealed for donations to make up shoe boxes.

We had some lovely gifts donated and our residents really enjoyed making up gift bags for those less privileged this Christmas.

We collaborated with The Bridge – Solihull Christian Fellowship who were very happy to take our gift bags to distribute to those that they knew would appreciate them.
