Activities at Hagley Place Care Home

Activities plays a big part in the care we deliver to residents; activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

I have a long background in the care industry and love to incorporate the outdoors in my activities. This role is very special as it allows me the time to get to know our residents and their families in a deeply personal way.

Soggy Safari

Residents were delighted to go on a 'soggy safari'! Although the rain was coming down, spirits were up as we went back to the West Midlands Safari Park to enjoy more animals! Despite the weather, it was still a great time and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the animals and even feeding a few!

We Will Remember

This year, Hagley has created a circle of individual poppies, made by the residents – each one is in memory of someone who served in a war or who is currently serving in a war. The strings of poppies were all knitted by our knit and natter group for the display and the differing string lengths are to represent the WW1 song, 'Bless them All'. Famous poems have been placed here as well, and Michelle, the Head of Activities at Hagley Place, is interviewing residents about either their own time serving or their family members who have served.

Autumnal Art

Residents were charmed by a different take on the traditional autumn leaf collages; we dried the leaves out and, once they were really crispy, we sorted them into their different colours, crumbled them into bowls and then made mosaics!

Hagley Takes to the Water

Residents has a wonderful time on the Silver Lady Canal Boat – owned and run by the Heulwen Trust charity. We set off from Welshpool and toured the canals, then went back to town to get a fish and chip lunch to eat on the canal boat.

The trip was inspired by one resident, who had been talking of her time spent boating and sailing when she was younger and how she missed the water and believed that she would never be able to sail again. Little did she know that we at Hagley took that as a challenge and the canal boat was booked, and she got to live out her wish!

Halloween Haunting

Residents have been making disturbing decorations for our Halloween celebrations. We have decorated our coffee lounge with ghostly ghosts, bloodcurdling banners and, petrifying pictures in celebration of the most hair-raising holiday of the year!

Nursery Time & Storytime

Residents at Hagley Place were delighted when Moor Park's nursery children visited us with their favourite story books to read with them. Residents and children all sat together to read books, look at the pictures and played with the story props.

Afterwards the teacher read out ‘Room on the Broom’ and then we sang nursery rhymes! The residents were thrilled to participate and there were compliments all around as to how much fun everyone had!
