Activities at Hagley Place Care Home
Activities plays a big part in the care we deliver to residents; activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.
Mandy Hayward
I have a long background in the care industry and love to incorporate the outdoors in my activities. This role is very special as it allows me the time to get to know our residents and their families in a deeply personal way.

Life at Hagley Place Care Home
Animal Therapy
Animal therapy is very important to our residents, it decreases anxiety and distress; calming them and causing feelings of wellbeing and happiness. It also encourages people to talk to one another about the animal. This week we were joined by a few of our furry friends- some were more cute than others!
Tom's Wife
Tom is a regular visitor to Hagley Place and he has been talking with our Knit and Natter group for a while. He had mentioned that his wife had made him and their children many different things over the years they were together, and we asked him to bring a couple of things in so we could see them. Tom brought us in a jumper that his wife had knitted for him, as well as a door hanger that she had made for the children. We were all amazed by the skill and attention to detail shown and we thanked Tom for his generosity in sharing these pieces with us.
Pamper Session
Michelle does weekly manicures for the residents that request it; a nice cut, file and a coat of polish can really make a lady feel well-dressed. It is becoming very popular and residents are putting their names down early so they get a spot!
Christmas Wrapping
We started early this year to get a head start on wrapping the presents for our Santa’s Grotto at the Late Night Christmas Shopping Extravaganza, which is being held on the 20th December (5 – 9pm). Many residents joined in and we had a lovely time talking about what people have gotten as gifts over the years.
Netball Mayhem
Residents have great fun with armchair netball; it is an easy and gentle exercise to do from the comfort of your armchair and it gets very competitive between those who participate. Staff also had fun joining in and everyone had a jolly good time!
Our New Head Chef
Please welcome Zara Griffiths as our new Head Chef here at Hagley Place. Zara has been at Hagley for 4 years and has previous experience in running a busy kitchen. We wish Zara every success and look forward to her newly-created menus and tasting the food.
