Activities at Highfield Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Neil Barnard
Hi, my name is Neil, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Highfield! I joined the team and role in March 2025.
I love being around people and making a difference to those individuals. Just to see the smiles on their faces brings so much pleasure. I have been a vocalist since 2021, and singing brings me so much joy. You may hear me before you see me.
Don’t be shy—come say hello! I hope you can join us for the fun activities we have planned!
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Highfield Care Home

Home shortlisted for prestigious award
Highfield has been shortlisted for a Design Healthcare Award in the Best Exterior Design category. The home has been chosen out of hundreds of other entries from across the entire country.
The design maximises the views of the surrounding rural landscape allowing residents, staff, and visitors to enjoy the outdoors whatever the weather.

Residents enjoy a little pampering session
We've all been feeling under the weather these last couple of weeks, so what is better than a lovely massage? We invited our resident massage therapist, Michelle, over, and she soon had everyone feeling much better.
Michelle normally works mainly from our wellness room. However, today she made resident centred room visits to residents for those who weren't feeling 100%
Thank you so much Michelle Radi you're a superstar!

A bit of fun and movement.
We like to keep our residents active and happy and keeping fit together is a popular group session and brings lots of laughter and, of course, a little friendly competitiveness.
Here our residents are playing some fun games and enjoying some music and movement in one of our stunning lounges.

Swinging into the New Year.
We had a fantastic time bringing in the new year with Harry Collins a Swing Vocalist.
Our amazing Head Chef Judith & Second Chef Lindsay prepared some tasty canapes, from bite-sized prawn cocktail, BBQ belly pork on top of a poppadom crunch, mini lemon meringues, bailey filled chocolate eclairs and much more.
What a fantastic way to celebrate the New Year.

Hark the Herald Angels sing with local choir
Heavenly voices rang out at Highfield as the community came together to celebrate Christmas with a carol concert. Staff and residents got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the community to come and join in with a carol concert to sing some festive Christmas favourites. The singing was led by Joules, with the Super Singers.
As well as singing in the lounge at the home, the choir also took the time to visit other residents individually in their rooms to sing for them and sprinkle their Christmas magic for everyone to enjoy, no matter what their mobility.

Landmark birthday celebrations at Highfield
Celebrations have been in full swing at Highfield as one of its residents reaches his centenary in style. Gerry was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as he received a card from the King in recognition of his landmark birthday. Guests and residents enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef Judith Huby.
Gerry started working in the power industry and flew through the ranks and was appointed Superintendent of Drax Power Station before coming to Highfield Care Home, where he is enjoying a new chapter of his life.
