Activities at Hollyfields Care Home

Our Activities programme is formulated using resident requests and feedback from resident meetings. Residents are involved in planning the programme with things they they would like to do throughout the year. There is a mixture of activities that take place including both group and 1-1 engagement. Residents at Hollyfields particularly enjoy movement to music activities enabling them to increase their level of physical abilities and have fun at the same time, whilst others enjoy musical singalongs and food based activities throughout the week.

We have a mini bus that enables us to reconnect our residents with their community in ways that suite themselves as individuals. This can be achieved by visiting local farms, Georgian towns, local attractions and even the local public house for lunch with friends. Hollyfields have a great relationship with their local community and have visits from local organisations such as The Wyre Community Land Trust and are currently undertaking a 12 week funded project from Arts Etc. Residents at Hollyfields enjoy Pet Therapy visits from their pet rabbit 'Thumper' and like to help clean and feed him daily. Relatives can be encouraged to join us for activities and again are very supportive with delivering theme days and fundraising events within the home.

Kaylee White

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Kaylee and I joined the Hollyfields care team in February 2021. I love getting to know our residents and I'm extremely passionate about their continued wellbeing and life enrichment through tailored activities. I became part of the Activities team to develop more in this area and expand the type of fulfilling activities and events we provide.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Paul's Return

Yesterday afternoon, Paul's return performance for our residents was met with enthusiastic participation.

His engaging style encouraged residents to actively sing and move along to the music, fostering a festive atmosphere.

We are grateful for his contribution and the resulting positive impact, particularly the joy it brought, as evidenced by Mavis's enthusiastic participation and the widespread smiles throughout the room.

Bewdley Brewery Party

We were kindly invited to attend a Christmas Party The Bewdley Brewery Tap.

We had a lovely time sharing the festivities with the local community, coming together and sharing memories old and news.

The Mayor of Bewdley even made an appearance!

Being a part of the wider community is an important part of maintaining connections and the feeling of self.

Card Making with the Local Craft Group

We recently had a visit from Mandy, Jo and Pat who are from a local creating group.

The ladies spent the afternoon helping our residents make some beautiful Christmas cards. Bringing with them not only the expertise, but a whole bunch of warmth and kindness, helping us to provide an engaging and meaningful afternoon.

One of our residents was a keen card maker and got stuck right in!

There was something very therapeutic about coming together, sharing ideas and each others company.

Paul the Singer

This week we were entertained by the lovely Paul who is a nurse by day, and a fabulous entertainer by night! (And at the weekends)!

Paul engaged our residents and had them singing and dancing the morning away.

They all agreed he should visit again soon! He also does panto which we would love to see in the future, so I think we may be seeing more of him!

Kidderminster College Students Visit

Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of enthusiastic students from Kidderminster College who are pursuing their studies in the field of sports.

Their visit brought immense joy to our esteemed residents as they engaged in a delightful session of seated exercises. It was truly heartwarming to witness the positive interactions and connections formed between our residents and the students.

One of the highlights of the visit was Valerie's skilful demonstration of the bean bag clap under the leg, which left everyone smiling and thoroughly entertained.

Our residents at Ivy House also had the opportunity to engage with the students, creating a memorable experience for all involved.

We express our sincere gratitude to the students and teachers for their heartwarming visit, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to welcome them back in the future.
