Activities at Hollyfields Care Home

Our Activities programme is formulated using resident requests and feedback from resident meetings. Residents are involved in planning the programme with things they they would like to do throughout the year. There is a mixture of activities that take place including both group and 1-1 engagement. Residents at Hollyfields particularly enjoy movement to music activities enabling them to increase their level of physical abilities and have fun at the same time, whilst others enjoy musical singalongs and food based activities throughout the week.

We have a mini bus that enables us to reconnect our residents with their community in ways that suite themselves as individuals. This can be achieved by visiting local farms, Georgian towns, local attractions and even the local public house for lunch with friends. Hollyfields have a great relationship with their local community and have visits from local organisations such as The Wyre Community Land Trust and are currently undertaking a 12 week funded project from Arts Etc. Residents at Hollyfields enjoy Pet Therapy visits from their pet rabbit 'Thumper' and like to help clean and feed him daily. Relatives can be encouraged to join us for activities and again are very supportive with delivering theme days and fundraising events within the home.

Happy Heads of Hair Thursday!

This week we welcomed Emma Church Lane Salonto the Hollyfields & Ivy House family as our official Hairdresser. Emma spent most of Thursday in the Hollyfields salon; washing, setting, blow-drying, cutting and applying a bouffant to many of our lovey ladies hair.

Everyone left with that wonderful VIP feeling for the weekend ahead. Keep an eye out for the poster confirming when she'll be back and get booked in...Her availabilities slots will full up fast!

Linda Casts a Singing Spell

We had a delightful Halloween-themed morning activity with Linda, who entertained our residents with a selection of classic spook-inspired songs. Her performance encouraged the residents to actively participate by singing and dancing along.

We would like to express our gratitude to the families who joined us for this enjoyable event. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together and get into the swinging 'spirit' of this season.

Pumpkin Carving

We had a delightful afternoon of pumpkin carving at Ivy House.

Gemma successfully engaged the residents in a nostalgic activity that brought back fond memories of their childhood.

A big thank you to Simon at Co-operative Food Franche Road for donating the pumpkins to our home for our lovely residents to enjoy.

Pudding Club - All Welcome

Join us next month when our esteemed Head Chef Sarah, wil once again prepare a delightful assortment of cakes and puddings for our residents and guests to try. Come and enjoy your choice of sweet treats and engage in a pleasant conversation with our residents. This month, Margaret and Brian, decided the classic Victoria sponge was the most well-received dessert.

Resident; Julia expressed her appreciation for the distinct flavour of the tea when served in our exquisite china tea sets, citing it as one of the reasons she cherishes attending the Pudding Club.

Kindly be on the lookout for our posters advertising our next pudding club event in November. For this special occasion, we will be hosting an Afternoon Tea, and would love to welcome even more friends and family to join us.

Did you know our pudding club is open to all local seniors in the community, please call the activities team on T. 01562 514810 to find out more.

Book a Show Round Today

Did you know we support residents who are on different stages of their dementia journey with two individual co-supportive settings. We have our residential community; Ivy House, and our main nursing home Hollyfields care home.

Both support continued independence, and offer meaningful engagement in a warm and welcoming environment for those living with, or experiencing the early stages of dementia and throughout the journey.

Hollyfields provides dementia residential and nursing care focused on residents’ health and well-being, and is well suited for individuals that require regular or complex medical care and attention – with reassurance that a registered nurse is on-hand 24-hours a day.

Ivy House is our luxury 7-bedded home that offers assisted living to those at an earlier stage in developing dementia. The Ivy House community is perfect for seniors who value independence and wish to remain socially active, but may need some extra support with daily tasks.

We’re welcoming new residents at Hollyfields and Ivy House, our next Open Day is on Saturday 23rd November. Whether you’re curious about our residential, nursing or dementia care we’re here to help.

Pick-Your-Own Pumpkins

Supporting residents to enjoy outings, shopping, meals out and other trips is a key aspect of the weekly activities calendar.

Today our residents enjoyed a visit to Bells Farm Shop to find the perfect pumpkins for our Halloween events. After visiting the pick your own fields and choosing some pumpkins we enjoyed a nice hot drink in the farm shop and of course a slice of cake... well it would be rude not to!

Being out in the community is important for our residents, it promotes our sense of self and well-being.
