Activities at Hollyfields Care Home

Our Activities programme is formulated using resident requests and feedback from resident meetings. Residents are involved in planning the programme with things they they would like to do throughout the year. There is a mixture of activities that take place including both group and 1-1 engagement. Residents at Hollyfields particularly enjoy movement to music activities enabling them to increase their level of physical abilities and have fun at the same time, whilst others enjoy musical singalongs and food based activities throughout the week.

We have a mini bus that enables us to reconnect our residents with their community in ways that suite themselves as individuals. This can be achieved by visiting local farms, Georgian towns, local attractions and even the local public house for lunch with friends. Hollyfields have a great relationship with their local community and have visits from local organisations such as The Wyre Community Land Trust and are currently undertaking a 12 week funded project from Arts Etc. Residents at Hollyfields enjoy Pet Therapy visits from their pet rabbit 'Thumper' and like to help clean and feed him daily. Relatives can be encouraged to join us for activities and again are very supportive with delivering theme days and fundraising events within the home.

Happy Birthday 'Pam'

Today we celebrate the birthday of one of our much loved residents Pam.

Pam announced she is 21 again! Birthday celebrations give us a chance to get together and celebrate the unique qualities that make you who you are. At Hollyfields we ensure every resident is able to feel extra special on their birthday. And of course our head chef always makes a special cake!

Activities and Shopping!

Our interactive tablet offers a range of activities and experiences that stimulate minds, encourage social interaction, and provide sensory engagement.

This afternoon, we conducted a demonstration for our residents on the basics of online shopping, which surprised them as they were unaware you could do this.

Together we carefully selected an assortment of exquisite crafting materials for our autumn and Christmas events, the residents can't wait to see if the order actually arrives!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

It was a pleasure to see so many individuals yesterday as we participated in The Nation's Biggest Coffee Morning. This event was held to support our esteemed MacMillan Nurses throughout the country. We were delighted to have the talented Beth perform for us, and our Head Chef Sarah and her team provided an assortment of delectable cakes.

Thank you to Donna our Team Leader for making some tasty cheesecakes. Our residents, family and friends thoroughly enjoyed the day, and it was heart-warming to witness the smiles on everyone's faces.

We are pleased to announce that we raised a total of £70.80! We extend our gratitude to all who generously donated to this remarkable cause.

Trip to Farm Shop and Local Pub!

Regularly popping out for coffee, pub lunches, mini-bus trips, and other outings is an essential part of our weekly activity calendar. This morning, we visited Bells Farm Shop for refreshments and had a delightful encounter with some charming ladies at the pop-up café. We look forward to returning and participating in a craft session.

One of our residents, Martin, expressed a desire for a double whisky. However, upon arriving at our local establishment Brinton Arms, he opted for a half Shandy instead.

Yummy Pudding Club

We would like to thank Sarah and Thomas for their efforts in creating such wonderful desserts for our residents and their families to enjoy. This month's most popular dessert was the traditional trifle, which Julia remarked was reminiscent of her own recipe with fresh fruit at the base. For next month, our residents have requested a delicious rice pudding with the skin intact on top, we look forward to welcoming knew faces to our next event.
