Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Anna Wasiak
I am a friendly and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator with a passion for working with people and making a positive impact in their lives. I joined Hyacinth House in 2024 as a carer and excited to now be the Activities Coordinator. I have eight years experience in hospitality and three years in floristry. I bring creativity, strong interpersonal skills and a warm welcoming approach to my role. My background has given me the ability to connect with individuals, organise engaging activities, and create meaningful experiences that brighten people’s days. I love inspiring others, fostering a sense of community and bringing joy through thoughtful and inclusive activities.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

By Tops, Wimborne: This weeks care home visit with Mia and Natalie was a pudsey themed trip, thank you so much to Hyacinth House Care Home - Barchester Healthcare @barchester_care for having us again, we had so much fun with all of the activities you provided for us, along with sharing what we've all been up to since our last visit.

Rummikub afternoon fun!
Being an easy to learn and fast moving game, a few residents wanted to give it a try. Well it was a big hit!

Get yourself moving at Hyacinth House!
What a fantastic time we had with Katy from Love to Move Dorset. Residents and family members joined in for an interactive and fun workout session and wow, did we get moving!
From working our muscles to brain teasing and memory games, Katy even threw in some balloon fun. A really interactive and engaging session.
Interested in joining our weekly exercise classes? We’d Love to welcome you!

Don't Delay - Enrol Today!
The Woman’s Land Army in Hampshire. Book Presentation
She is at it again! Our very own Wonder Woman, Gwen, has been included in a brand-new book about her life as a Land Army woman written by John K. Lander. The book, titled 'Don't Delay - Enrol today! - The Women's Land Army in Hampshire’, is now available to be purchased on Amazon.
John K. Lander, an author of over 30 books, booklets and specialist papers on social history and nonconformist church subjects, personally visited Gwen to go through the material for the book and present her with her very own copy. It was a wonderful moment to see her receive more recognition for her service - A proud moment for her, family and all the home!
We're excited to read it, and it's in pride of place for all to read in the home's library.

‘Lest we forget’ on Remembrance Sunday - Wear your poppy with pride!
Big shout-out to our amazing Knit and Natter Club who’ve been hard at work over the past few months, knitting beautiful poppies to raise money for the Royal British Legion!
Special applause for Shirley, our superstar knitter who created most of the poppies, also to Eveline and staff members Ellie and Tammy for teaming up to make this all possible.
With residents, staff, and visitors all buying and proudly wearing these poppies, it’s been fantastic seeing everyone show their support.
What a result, together, we’ve raised £121.43 for this amazing cause!
Well done to everyone involved.
The needles are already clicking for our next Knit and Natter project, so keep an eye out for what’s coming next.
