Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Anna Wasiak

Activities Coordinator

I am a friendly and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator with a passion for working with people and making a positive impact in their lives. I joined Hyacinth House in 2024 as a carer and excited to now be the Activities Coordinator. I have eight years experience in hospitality and three years in floristry. I bring creativity, strong interpersonal skills and a warm welcoming approach to my role. My background has given me the ability to connect with individuals, organise engaging activities, and create meaningful experiences that brighten people’s days. I love inspiring others, fostering a sense of community and bringing joy through thoughtful and inclusive activities.

Christmas Countdown Begins at Hyacinth House!

We recently kicked off our countdown to Christmas in style with a magical Christmas Light Switch-On!

Our residents, their families, friends, and members of the community gathered to enjoy a festive afternoon of cheer. Guests were entertained by the very talented local musician and singer, Charlotte Geary, who delighted everyone with a selection of hits, her own music and Christmas favourites!

This was followed by a beautiful performance of traditional carols from St Michaels Church Colehill Choir, providing us with carol sheets to join in, spreading holiday joy far and wide.

We served delicious mulled wine and mince pies, lovingly prepared by our hospitality team, creating the perfect warm and cosy atmosphere.

A wonderful time was had by all, the finale was our lights switch-on to officially mark the start of the festive season and countdown to Christmas.

A special mention of thanks to Richard Carpenter at The Libertine for generously donating a beautiful Christmas tree for our community to enjoy! We love it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special event!

Barney & Bilbo come to visit.

We do love to see Barney and Bilbo from Penny's Orchard

They are so calm and confident, yet cheeky and cuddly. Growing up so fast and Val and Ben are doing an amazing job with their training, we are so grateful for their visits and seeing their developments.

Carers Rights Day

Despite the snow today the 5 local Barchester Healthcare homes in Dorset were delighted to be supporting Prama with their event at Allendale Centre for Carers Rights Day.

Not only did we have a stall talking with carers about the support we can provide but we also supported an activities room, this enabled the Carers to look around the stalls content in the knowledge their loved ones were being entertained.

Nearly 100 people attended and gained valuable information and support from a multitude of different organisations who came together to be there to support their communities.

Pets as Therapy

We had a visit from our much-loved Cockapoo, Archie and Paula Dawe from Pets As Therapy.

Archie wasted no time making his round, especially when he spotted Gwen with her stash of treats!

As always, he was a total sweetheart, soaking up all the cuddles and attention from our residents and staff. We're all absolutely besotted and are already counting down the days until we see him again at Christmas.

Thank you Paula and Archie for bringing so much joy to our day!
