Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

I am a friendly and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator with a passion for working with people and making a positive impact in their lives. I joined Hyacinth House in 2024 as a carer and excited to now be the Activities Coordinator. I have eight years experience in hospitality and three years in floristry. I bring creativity, strong interpersonal skills and a warm welcoming approach to my role. My background has given me the ability to connect with individuals, organise engaging activities, and create meaningful experiences that brighten people’s days. I love inspiring others, fostering a sense of community and bringing joy through thoughtful and inclusive activities.

Macular Society Talk with Tyler Phillips

We were delighted to recently welcome Tyler Phillips, Regional Manager for the Macular Society to Hyacinth House.

With macular conditions affecting so many people, it was incredibly valuable to learn more about the society, get the latest updates on conditions, and hear about the support services available. Tyler included a fun true-or-false quiz, making the session both engaging and informative.

Tyler generously offered her time for one-to-one discussions, leaving us with practical advice and tools like the Amsler grid to help monitor eyesight regularly for any changes.

Tyler will return for future talks, including sessions designed to equip our team with even more knowledge to provide the best possible support to our residents and visitors affected by macular conditions.

Thank you, Tyler, for your time and expertise!

Rocking around the Christmas tree……

Christmas Countdown Day 5 and what a fantastic afternoon it has been!

With the incredible Lynne and her Community choir leading the way, we enjoyed a fabulous sing-along. From well-known hits to Christmas favourites.

Joined by our Don’t Dine Alone guests, residents, and their families, the Christmas spirit was in full swing and we sang our hearts out.

A huge thank you to Lynne and your talented choir for making this afternoon so magical. We’re already counting down the days until you come back.

Discovering Hidden Talents

Every now and then, we are amazed by the incredible talents hidden within our Hyacinth House family. Whether it is our residents sharing a skill or a team member teaching us something new, everyday's a school day.

Anna has a knack for transforming leaves into stunning roses, naturally we couldn’t resist learning how to create these beautiful works of art. Using just wires and leaves, from our garden, our residents created their own lovely rose

A trip to the New Forest you ask? ..................... Absolutely!

A special request by Charles and John for a trip out. Tammy and Ellie ensured they had a great afternoon trip to Lyndhurst and a drive through the New Forest recently. On the lookout for wildlife, they saw plenty, including a beautiful herd of deer grazing.

A stop at the cafe to refuel before heading home!
