Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Martine Ratcliffe

Head of Activities

Hello my name is Martine and I'm the Head of Activities here at Longueville Court. I joined the team in 2009 as a carer and become team leader before moving into the Activities position 3 years ago.

I'm passionate about providing life enrichment to each of our residents, as a team we aim is to bring joy on a daily basis, and make their time with us special. We pride ourselves on bringing a mixture of activities that suit everyone.

I have one daughter and 2 grandsons, when not at work I love to spend time with them making memories, am a massive lover of music and dance.

Cheesecake making

Residents and the Activities Team at Longueville Court had great fun in the kitchen making simple, no bake, raspberry and white chocolate cheescakes to share. Rae, Richard and others loved the opportunity to make something for their friends and the results were absolutely delicious.

Longueville Court welcomes back family visitors

Longueville Court is delighted to welcome back the families of residents, for socially distanced reunions in our gardens with their loved ones. General Manager Margery Dino, Deputy Manager Louise Haigh-Walsworth, and Resident Ambassador Julie Cambers were all ready to greet the visitors we have waited a long time to see. It has been an emotional week as families see each other face to face again. Welcome back everyone! Thank you for following the guidelines and keeping everyone safe.

Some of today's lovely food

The Kitchen Team create tempting menus and beautiful food here at Longueville Court. Here is an example of what our residents can enjoy every day - spaghetti bolognese, traditional meals and classic puddings like apple pie and custard. Our Head Chef spends time with every resident to understand their food favourites, dietary needs and any allergies. The team can prepare food in a variety of consistencies for safe and easy swallowing.

Celebrating The Queen's birthday

Residents at Longueville Court held a right royal party to celebrate The Queen's official birthday on June 13th. The lovely afternoon tea, fancy dress, singing and games were enjoyed by everyone, especially Rae.

Celebrating our care teams in Carers' Week

During Carers' Week the senior team at Longueville Court treated members of our care teams to a special breakfast to thank them for all their hard work and empathy, which make our home a very special place. There were also Thank You cards, and cupcakes for coffee time, kindly donated by a local baker.

A tropical staycation

Although it isn't possible for anyone to go on holiday at the moment it didn't stop Longueville Court from holding a fabulous holiday at home. Residents and staff enjoyed some socially distanced dancing, music, mocktails and a lot of laughs. Fun was had by all, including Philippa, Richard and Thomas who enjoyed his Fab lolly. Even the rain outside didn't worry us as we had everything we needed for a party indoors.
