Activities at Middletown Grange Care Home
We aim to provide a variety of activities that will both mentally and physically stimulate the people we support. Residents have a range of different needs and interests, and it is crucial that these are reflected in the activities available, so that each individual is able to participate to the best of their ability. We organise both group and individual social events that everyone is welcome to take part in; there is a weekly outing to local places of interest, including the garden centre and the local farms, parks and museums. In addition, we enjoy regular visits from entertainers and even exotic animals. We also host events such as 'Beach Day' that relatives and friends are encouraged to participate in. Getting involved in charities is a big part of our ethos, so events such as 'PJs for Pudsey' and pirate-themed days are regularly hosted to raise money for different foundations, including the Alzheimer’s Society.

Life at Middletown Grange Care Home
Working our way into May
Its been a busy start to May for us here at Middletown Grange. Our weekly yoga exercises continue to be a hit in the home with Amanda, but for some of us you cant beat a sit down with a good book. Here at Middletown Grange we want to ensure our residents have a purpose to each day so ensure we offer a variety of activities to support the people we care for.
Blossoming Gardens
We went out to smell the flowers with a lovely walk around the garden in the sunshine.
Flowers evoke a multisensory experience with beautiful colours and different smells.
Dopamine are released and makes us feel better. Flowers can chase away anxiety, worries and the blues, making people feel less depressed troubled or agitated. They can induce a more positive outlook on life boosting energy and happiness.
April Open Day
Our Open Day Event was a huge success this weekend as we opened the doors to the local community. We welcomed new families and old into the home to enjoy celebrations, music and plenty of food. We even had a big birthday celebration which everyone enjoyed over the 2 days.
Family Celebrations for 103rd Birthday
There was reason to celebrate this weekend at Middletown Grange as the home commemorated the 103rd Birthday of our Resident Richard Ryan. Richard was joined by his family including his daughter Kathleen Kirk as they indulged in Sunday lunch and cake made by the homes Chef.
Yoga with Amanda
We were treated to our Yoga Class with Amanda this week at Middletown Grange. Its great that everyone can be involved and the movements shared means it can inclusive for all that want to join in and provides us a moment to reflect and relax. Thanks Amanda and see you again soon!
Out and About
We went out about this week to run some errands with residents in the home. With the weather not getting any better we needed a quick warm up with tea and cake before heading into the supermarket to pick up some bits for the week. Its great having the mini bus at Middletown Grange so they we can head out and about in Witney and visiting some of the local shops
