Activities at Milford House Care Home
The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.
Gale Louw
Gale joined the Milford team in 2019, initially as a carer but has gradually transferred over to the Activities Team where she is now the full time Coordinator. Gale has a passion to create a comprehensive and inclusive programme of vibrant events for residents, family
members and friends to enjoy and, along with the rest of team, ensure that each resident is able to participate in meaningful activities tailored to their likes and dislikes.
Originally from South Africa, when not at work Gale loves nothing more than exploring the UK, catching up with family and friends, being creative across a variety of disciplines and keeping her eyes out for great activities and events she can bring back to the home for
residents to enjoy.

Life at Milford House Care Home
Amanda Starts Advent
We were delighted to have Amanda back to sing for us and get our Christmas under way by turning the first bauble on our advent calendar. Each individual bauble was made by a resident and everyone was delighted with the results. We are looking forward to revealing each day’s surprise.
Elvis has Enterted the Building
Residents from Milford House travelled to Rothsay Grange - another Barchester home in nearby Andover - to enjoy an afternoon with Elvis. Singing all our favourites, we were joining in and moving to the beat as Elvis crooned away and brightened up a dull winter afternoon for those who made the journey. A huge thank you to residents and staff at Rothsay for making us all feel so welcome.
Singing & Dancing
Over the course of the year, residents have been entertained on a number of occasions by Mike & Muriel who give us an hour of music, singing, reading and dancing and who have become firm Milford favourites. Mike and Muriel have come to us as part of an initiative organised by the Imperial Charity based in Warminster. They have provided a range of entertainers for us - one each month - and have been fantastic, and we are looking forward to welcoming them all back in 2017.
Long Service Award
Here at Milford House, we are always proud to celebrate with staff when they reach milestones in their careers here with us, and we were delighted to share in Sister Cherry's achievement of 15 years service. Cherry, pictured here with our Operations Manager, Margaret, is now looking forward to her next 15 years with us!
Christmas on Our Minds
Residents at Milford have been thinking about Christmas - yes, only a few shopping days away - and, as a result, have started to make Christmas crackers that we are going to give to all our visitors who come and share their time with us over the holidays - particularly, our local Brownies and junior schools, who come and sing for us. So, the Milford elves have a little production line going and, so far, we have been delighted with the results.
Amanda Sings
Entertainer, Amanda, came to Milford House recently to sing for the residents. She has a beautiful voice and we can't wait to hear her again.
