Activities at Milford House Care Home
The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.
Gale Louw
Gale joined the Milford team in 2019, initially as a carer but has gradually transferred over to the Activities Team where she is now the full time Coordinator. Gale has a passion to create a comprehensive and inclusive programme of vibrant events for residents, family
members and friends to enjoy and, along with the rest of team, ensure that each resident is able to participate in meaningful activities tailored to their likes and dislikes.
Originally from South Africa, when not at work Gale loves nothing more than exploring the UK, catching up with family and friends, being creative across a variety of disciplines and keeping her eyes out for great activities and events she can bring back to the home for
residents to enjoy.

Easter Chickens
As part of our Easter Trail here at Milford we have these wonderful chickens made by the Residents! We love them because they make us smile and as part of the trail you need to identify the odd one out. What could the answer be?
On the Trail of the White Rabbit
The last stop on our Easter Trail is this lovely white Rabbit. Anyone completing the trail has to find the rabbit and choose a name and to why they have chosen the name. The best entry will win our trail prize!
Easter Trail Treats
One of the stops on our Easter Trail is this lovely bunch of flowers. There is a question to answer but more importantly this colourful bouquet is here to enjoy for the Easter period!
Easter Trail
The Easter Trail which runs from 15th to 28th March went 'Live' today. Everyone is welcome to have a go following the trail around the home where they will find a host of delights to look at, all created by the residents in their craft sessions. At the end of the trail everyone who hands in a form will receive a small prize but the person with the best answer to our tiebreaker question will win the overall prize. So follow the trail!
Work and Play with the Wallace Collection
This week we are exploring more artefacts and pictures from the Wallace Collection with the theme Work and Play. One of the objects we discussed in detail was this gorgeous Sevres inkstand once owned by a King's daughter. We all decided that working at correspondence with this on your desk would be a pleasure and not a chore!
St David's Day
Residents celebrated St David’s Day in style with a festive lunch. On the menu was Leek Soup followed by a lovely Welsh Lamb Stew and the ‘piece de resistance’ a Snowdon Pudding or, for those Welsh speakers among us, ‘Pwdin Eyri’! This was the first time we had tried this recipe and it went down a storm so we will no doubt be having it on the menu again.
