From stripy socks to head-to-toe elf outfits we all had lots of fun elfin' around for such a good cause.

Treat Me Tuesday's

Today's 'Treat Me' Tuesday was the offer of a hand massage from Rachel. With fragrant warm water and choice of softening creams Rachel provided a sensual and relaxing hand massage to all those who wanted a little pampering.

Resident Sheila went first and spread the word to everyone that Rachel was very good and they too should give it a try. Marjorie and Joyce found their hands were super soft afterwards and Margaret loved it so much she almost fell asleep... before asking if she could have her feet done next!

Bringing on the glitz at Mount House!

Staff, residents and family members at Mount House & Severn View Care home in Shrewsbury had the pleasure of the Mayor of Shrewsbury Becky Wall in attendance at their ‘Blitz and Glitz’ Gala Dinner on 6th November, 2023.

Following conversations with the homes’ residents about what they would like to do they requested an early evening event, one that they could invite their loved ones to and get 'glammed up' just like they did after the war.

Our Head Chef Charlotte Mulloy created a special 3 course menu and worked with the whole home team to plan an event to take place around bonfire night, with fireworks to represent the end of war celebrations and music of the era in the lead up to Remembrance Day.

Charlotte placed a Facebook call out on the ‘Random acts of kindness - Shrewsbury’ site and it become a true community spirited event with students from Shrewsbury College Group; Hair & Beauty Training Academy providing the residents hair and make-up with Blue Navy Photography on hand to capture each guest in their finery.

Mount House were overwhelmed by the generosity of others in supporting the home to make this event one to remember. The wine and local cheeses were provided by Morrison’s, Jenny’s Catering provided all the crockery alongside Shrewsbury Castle who donated the use of their Champagne flutes.

The VIP red carpet, tables, chairs and decorative covers came courtesy of the Darwin Community Centre and the events fireworks finale were donated by Danny Jones Drives and Landscaping.

Madam Mayor enjoyed the fine dining experience on the top table alongside Resident Ambassador; May McEntee and several of her fellow residents. Guests were served each course by a team of volunteers from present, and past staff members whilst being entertained by vintage 1940’s signer ‘Bertie Blighty’.

General Manager at Mount House, Coral Edwards said: “It was lovely to have Madam Mayor Becky Wall here as our chef and team showcased their talents. The residents were delighted to meet, and spend time talking to the Mayor and sharing their memories of Shrewsbury. We all had a wonderful time and can’t thank the community enough for all their help and donations, all of which added to the Glitz of our prestigious remembrance event.”

Resident Leslie Barker said; “being sat next to Madam Mayor in all her chains was a delight, she’s been very chatty and even sang with me, next time I hope to get her up and dancing a waltz!”
