Activities at Mount House and Severn View

Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.

Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.

Spooky Cookies and Display for Community Event

Chef Charlotte popped over to see Sally from Sally Pearl’s Fundraising Page as she and her team of volunteers finished decorating the new venue for this year's spooktacular event! The weather has played 'tricks' on Sally in the lead up to this annual charitable event. Originally planned since August to be held at the WM Showground, due to flooding as of last Thursday Sally had no venue and all tickets sold.

The charitable and fun loving people of Shrewsbury didn't let her down; Anthony at Brooklands Pub provided the new venue, sorted the food and even the disco. He's allowed Sally and her band of muggles to decorate the pub as a magical Hogwarts experience full of wonder and delight. Tonight's Harry Potter inspired event starts at 5pm and will host c.180 children, with spooky craft activities and monster mash disco.

The 'treats' have kept coming with donations and volunteer support from across the county. Charlotte from Mount House and Severn View dropped of a cauldron of Spider web brownies to add to the mountain of scary bakes on sale.

This year Sally's 'Check your Pumpkins' event is raising vital funds for Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Charity and Fighting to be Heard Foundation both charities close to Sally and her friends hearts. To donate and find out more about Breast Cancer Awareness please visit Sally Pearl’s Fundraising Page we hope everyone that attends has the best time.

We're celebrating 5-Star success

There were happy scenes at Barchester's Mount House and Severn View care home as staff and residents celebrated the home receiving a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating by the local authority today; 27th October 2023.

The achievement is the highest rating a care home can receive from an Environmental Health officer, and shows the home has complied with all the statutory obligations; showing outstanding food hygiene standards.

Senior General Manager, Coral Edwards commented “Following the unannounced inspection, we’re extremely pleased to have been awarded 5-stars for our food hygiene. Achieving the highest possible standard is incredibly important and I’m so proud of Head Chef Charlotte Mulloy and the Hospitality team at Mount House.

Chef Charlotte joined the team in March 2023, this award is in recognition of her extensive knowledge and continued hard work in maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness standards in our kitchen.”

Food hygiene ratings are an inspection given to a food business that reflects the standards of food hygiene found on the date of inspection or visit by the local authority.

The ratings assess:

- How hygienically food is handled – prepared, cooked, reheated, cooled and stored.
- The cleanliness of a business, including taking into consideration layout and ventilation.
- How food records are managed.

Teddy Making with Local Nursery

Some children from the local nursery visited the residents today. The children from Willow room spent time creating Teddy bears, with help from the residents the children glue and stick the Teddy bears together. We then go on an adventure around the rooms of some residents singing nursery rhymes together.

Employee of the Month - September 2023
