Activities at Rose Lodge Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Jane Ritchie
Hello, my name is Jane and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Rose Lodge and I have been here since 2010 .
My role is to engage and stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. I want to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.
Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that I am passionate about, It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we do with them. We enjoy creating new and special memories together.

Life at Rose Lodge Care Home
Residents enjoy pet therapy visit
Rose Lodge were delighted to welcome, Tiger to the home, their new Pet Therapy Dog. Tiger will be visiting the home fortnightly as part of the homes life enrichment programme. Therapy dogs are sometimes called "comfort dogs." They support a person's mental health by providing attention and comfort. Their sweet demeanours and unconditional love may have a therapeutic benefit to those who face difficult health challenges. Unlike service dogs, however, anyone can enjoy a therapy dog and residents are looking forward to giving Tiger treats!
The Secret Garden
Residents of Rose Lodge recently enjoyed a trip out on the homes mini-bus to ‘The Secret Garden’ for a spot of lunch.
The location is a firm favourite with residents due to its warm and welcoming atmosphere and delicious home-made food. It is also a great place to catch up and make new friends.
Thank you The Secret Garden Touring Park – we look forward to our next visit!
Community friends
Residents and colleagues at Rose Lodge were delighted to welcome back their friends from St Peters and St Pauls church for a catch up over tea and cake.
Everyone enjoyed chatting about everyday things and commenting how good the cake was! It was a very enjoyable morning and we are looking forward to the next visit as it’s always good to talk.
International Flower Day
We recently celebrated International Flower Day in style, a great way in mid-winter to bring joy and happiness into the home. Our residents took part in flower-based activities throughout the day including a flower arranging session and a flower themed quiz which everyone really enjoyed. The collective knowledge about flowers gained from years of gardening experience was very impressive. It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all.
Norfolk knitters
The talented knitters at Rose Lodge have been busy knitting hats, jackets and blankets for the newborn babies of their local hospital with the Norfolk knitters. Residents at Rose Lodge are looking forward to delivering these soon. Jane Ritchie, activities coordinator said, “It’s been great fun knitting all these items in various colours and sizes for the babies and we can’t wait for our next community knitting project to start.”
Burns night celebrations
Here at Rose Lodge we prepared a traditional Burns Night feast to the tune of bagpipes. To honour the famous Scottish poet, we hosted a poetry and music session to learn more about the Scottish Country Dancing and the Ceilidh and to mark the Scottish institution, including giving the time-honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding’ race’ – the haggis.
Our tables were specially decorated with flowers and Scottish flags for the occasion as our residents enjoyed delicious Haggis, Neeps and Tatties prepared by our talented chef. We all had a wonderful time learning more about Robert Burns and the Scottish culture and traditions.
