Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Arts and Crafts
Our Weekly Arts & Crafts Club have been busy painting an array of colourful decorations for our Tropical Day, which will be taking place on Wednesday

It's Magic !
Last week Sandra & Carol enjoyed spending time playing a variety of games on our interactive Magic Table from Social-Ability.
The Magic Table is a portable, interactive projector which has a huge array of sensory games & videos to play. One of our favourites is the painting game, where you move your hand across an image to reveal its vibrant colours.

Fisher's Pond - Mini Bus Trip
On Thursday afternoon we enjoyed an outing to the Fisher's Pond Pub in Eastleigh for an afternoon tipple by the lake.
It was lovely to be able to sit & watch the ducks & cygnets out on the water whilst enjoying a refreshing drink with good company. We certainly look forward to returning again soon

Cocktails and Jazz.... Cheers
Cheers!
This week we've had a fantastic time at our Cocktail & Jazz Afternoon.
Our cocktail bar served Martinis, Margaritas & a fruity Summer mocktail, whilst singer Debi performed a variety of jazz & swing classics for us to sing along to.
We’d like to say a special thank you to Debi for performing for us, it was a really lovely afternoon.

Expert Quilter - Romsey Abbey
This week we enjoyed a lovely trip to Romsey Abbey for the Quilt Festival, which is running until the 16th July. There were a wonderful array of quilts on display by the Romsey Quilters & it was a real treat to be able to see the work & skill that went in to create each piece.
It was a particularly special trip for Jean, as she herself is a talented quilter & former member of the Winchester Quilters. She has made many quilts for family & friends over the years (including the beautiful one in the photo below) & has even had one of her quilts displayed at a previous quilt festival at the Abbey! She thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the different quilts & had a lovely chat with some of the members of the Romsey quilters about the various techniques that they use.
If you happen to be visiting Romsey over the next couple of weeks then we’d definitely recommend visiting.

Eyes Down - Musical Bingo - 1960's
Well Done to Trevor who was the winner of this week’s bingo game!
We hold our popular Bingo Club once a week & we enjoy playing a variety of different themed bingo games. Today it was 1960’s Musical Bingo which had everyone singing along.
