Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Mini Bus Trip - Brambridge Park Garden Centre
This afternoon we enjoyed a lovely trip in our Mini Bus to Brambridge Park Garden Centre for a wander & drink in the cafe.
Brambridge is definitely one of our favourite places to visit for an outing & a bonus is that it’s only a short drive away.

National Picnic Week
Did you know that last week it was National Picnic Week?
We decided to celebrate with Peach Bellini cocktails & a delicious picnic buffet in our glorious garden.
A big thank you to our wonderful kitchen team for putting on such a tasty spread, we all had a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine.

Armchair Travel - Greece
Armchair Travels
Yesterday we enjoyed another of our monthly virtual travel days & this time we jetted off to sunny Greece!
As part of the day we enjoyed a delicious 3 course Greek lunch, which included a Greek salad with feta & a tasty moussaka. We also listened to some traditional Greek music, which helped to make us feel like we were dining in a Greek taverna.
Then in the afternoon we took part in a Greek quiz, bingo & a game about the Greek gods & goddesses, whilst reminiscing about past holidays to the Greek islands

Mid Summer's Eve - Health and Well-Being
Glorious Mid Summer Evening Event
Residents and guests had a lovely evening on mid Summer's eve with a packed schedule of exercise and presentations from local health and fitness experts within our community

This was followed by a seated exercise session by Shane O'Connell from Elderlife Fitness when we all had a workout from head to toe
Sally Reynolds then presented "The Emotional First Aid Kit" and how to feel better with the use of memory boxes and mood Boards.
Malcolm Calvert from Tai Chi for Health and Well -Being provided our final presentation of the evening when we followed a just a few of the many movements of this ancient martial art
Finally The Pimms Sundowner was served... It was a glorious evening enjoyed by everyone
Thank you so much to our special guest speakers, and our residents, friends, family and visitors
