Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd

Activities Co-ordinator

Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Community Spirit

We’d like to thank members of the Eastleigh Neighbours Facebook Group along with our friends & family who very kindly donated a selection of jigsaw puzzles, puzzle boards & games to the home.

We feel very fortunate to be a part of such a generous community are very much looking forward to doing a puzzle or two!

National Scrabble Day

Did you know that today is National Scrabble Day? We decided that it was the perfect day to launch our brand new community scrabble club!

A big well done to David who achieved the highest score of the afternoon with 104 points. He becomes the first player to be placed on our scrabble club leaderboard, so we shall see if anyone can beat his score next month!

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 11th May from 2pm - everyone is welcome!

Pamper Session

We are very lucky to have a unisex hair and beauty salon where our residents can indulge in some pampering.  At the weekend Marie & carer Nikki made use of the nail bar for a relaxing manicure session, sheer bliss... File, polish and a relaxing hand massage ...

Easter Bake Off- Competition Winner

Yesterday we rounded off our Easter Celebrations with a delicious Easter Bake Off Competition!

Our staff and residents entered a variety of mouthwatering bakes into the contest & we were delighted to be joined by Val & Joan from our local W.I, who joined our chef Clifford & kitchen assistant Marie on the judging panel.

A huge well done to carer Pippa who came 1st with her chocolate cupcakes, which the judges said had perfectly light sponges with just the right amount of chocolate, and also to Jo who came runner up with her carrot cake

Easter Preparations

Marie, one of our residents and two of our lovely carers helped in making up lots of chocolate Easter Treats for delivery to local community groups. Everyone enjoyed making up the gifts and there may have been one or two eggs which didn't make it into the gift bags.....
