Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Friday Sing along
On Friday we were treated to a fantastic afternoon sing-along courtesy of the Braishfield Ukulele Music Society (aka the BUMS!) They performed a variety of well known tunes for us to join in with including ‘Leaving on a Jetplane’ ‘Hello Mary Lou’ & ‘When the Saints Go Marching In.’

National Beer Day
Did you know that today, 15th June, is National Beer Day? We decided to celebrate with a trip to one of our lovely local pubs, the White Horse Otterbourne for a refreshing pint in the sunshine. Cheers!

The Rockall Challenge
We've made good progress on our 60km walk in 60 Days around our beautiful garden in aid of raising funds for The Rockall Challenge... Please do join us for a lap or two if you are able to join us any day until 30th July

Gardening club preparations
This morning Lys & Jo took a stroll to our next door neighbour George Beckett Nurseries to buy some bedding plants ready for our Gardening Club tomorrow.
The pink, yellow & white flowers will be sure to add a lovely splash of colour to the garden.

Residents Choice
Jean & Carol enjoyed spending Sunday afternoon completing a jigsaw puzzle. Thanks to donations from our wonderful friends, family & local community, we've got lots of lovely puzzles to choose from.

Bicycle made for two....
We took a very special trip to the New Forest this week for a bike ride with Pedall - New Forest Inclusive Cycling. We enjoyed a wonderful cycle through the woods, the weather was perfect and we even spotted some New Forest Ponies along the way
