Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Coronation Weekend Celebrations
Coronation Celebrations
What a fantastic weekend we’ve had celebrating the coronation of King Charles 3rd.
Yesterday we raised a toast to the King whilst watching the ceremony on the big screen in our cinema room.
Then today we enjoyed a delicious Coronation buffet lunch (complete with the Coronation Quiche of course!) followed by live music with the very talented singer Sarah. (And we can’t forget to mention the very important moment when we crowned David as our very own King of Shawford Springs!

Coronation Tree Planting
Coronation Tree Planting
This week we planted our beautiful National Trust Silver Birch tree which was kindly donated to us by Brambridge Park Garden Centre in Otterbourne.
Our head of maintenance, Paul, made a commemorative plaque to display in front of the tree & a group of our staff & residents gathered to watch it being planted.

Knit and Natter Community Club
The ladies of our new knit & natter group have been doing a fabulous job of knitting red, white & blue decorations ready for the Coronation next week. We can’t wait to see them when they are finished & on display in our reception.

Community Donation Coronation Tree planting
Brambridge Park Garden Centre in Otterbourne have kindly donated a beautiful National Trust Silver Birch Tree to us to commemorate The Kings Coronation. We will be planting in the garden at our home for all our residents and their friends and family to enjoy .
We took our mini bus to collect it this afternoon with a couple of our residents who also enjoyed a cuppa in the cafe whilst we were there

National Tea day
We decided to celebrate National Tea day on the 21st April by hosting a tea tasting afternoon in our café, in which we had to guess the flavour of a variety of different teas... Mint proved to be very popular

St George's day
Yesterday we celebrated St George’s Day with a traditional roast dinner & sing-along in our dining room.
