Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd

Activities Co-ordinator

Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Winchester Rotary - Community Afternoon Tea

We had an absolutely fantastic afternoon at Winchester Rotary UK’s Senior Citizens Party at Itchen Abbas Village Hall

We decided to take some of our wonderful ladies along as a pre-mother’s day treat and what a treat it turned out to be! Everyone was thoroughly spoilt with bingo, games, a raffle, live music & a delicious afternoon tea.

We’d like to thank all the members of the Winchester Rotary for organising the event & for very kindly inviting us along

We were joined by Winchester’s Mayor, councillor Angela Clear who originally officially opened our home last March. We very much appreciated all her kind words and her return visit

There were two very special cakes, courtesy of Marie a beautiful buffet lunch courtesy of our chef Clifford and lots of bubbles and balloons

Out and about - The New Forest

This week our Men’s Club took a drive through the New Forest stopping at The Lamb Inn, Nomansland for a round of drinks.

The welcome was warm & friendly, the fire was roaring & the local ale from Flack Manor Brewery went down a treat. All in all it was the perfect way to spend a dreary Monday afternoon.

We’d like to give a special mention & thank you to the two staff members at the pub for being so accommodating & really going above & beyond to help us during our visit.
