Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd

Activities Co-ordinator

Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Out and About in our Community

This morning some of our lovely ladies enjoyed an outing to Haskins Garden Centre in Southampton for coffee & a wander

It's a beautiful day for a day on the water.....

We were incredibly lucky to be able to spend the afternoon on the water on board the Alison MacGregor, which is run by the fabulous volunteers at the Solent Dolphin.

We took in various sights on Southampton Water including the cruise ship Arcadia & luxury yachts moored in Ocean Village. We also spent some time on the River Itchen before heading back to Hythe Marina.

We’d like to say a big big thank you to the volunteers on board for looking after us throughout the trip, especially in the heat!

Sherry in The Sun....

Wasn’t the weather glorious yesterday? We made the most of the sunshine by hosting a ‘sherry social’ in our beautiful garden. A big thank you to Hazel, Jeanette & David for making some delicious fruit platters for us to enjoy with our afternoon tipple!

Oh I do Like to be beside the seaside.....

This morning the rain didn’t stop us from getting out for a trip to the lovely Lookout Cafe which overlooks the sea at Lepe Country Park

Football Fun

To celebrate England securing their place in the final, we decided to host our own penalty shootout in the garden which was a lot of fun!
