Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Kaleidoscope Knitting - Knit and Natter
Our Knit & Natter ladies have been busy working on another project & this time they’ve been knitting an array of colourful squares to make into cosy blankets.
The blankets will be kept on our minibus to keep everyone warm & toasty on outings when the weather begins to get colder.
Garden To Plate
A couple of months ago one of our resident gardeners David planted a selection of salad seeds in one of our raised beds. He has been diligently tending to them and today we get to enjoy the fruits of his labour as the white radishes and salad leaves were ready to be harvested. They are now heading to our kitchen for our chefs to use in the salad at supper time.
Out and about in our Mini Bus... The New Forest
Yesterday we enjoyed a sunny morning drive around the beautiful New Forest, stopping off at Hatchet Pond near Beaulieu for a refreshing drink with a view.
The cattle were also taking a refreshing drink in the pond...
Out and about in the Community - Hinton Ampner - National Trust
Today we visited Hinton Ampner - National Trust for a stroll around their beautiful gardens.
It was a fantastic trip, with glorious weather and stunning views! We are already planning a return visit in the Winter so we can have a look around the house when it’s decorated for Christmas.
We are sailing....
Last week we enjoyed another wonderful day sailing at Testwood Lakes in Totton.
The weather was absolutely perfect for a morning on the water & afterwards we enjoyed a picnic by the boathouse.
Our monthly visit to the lakes is fast becoming one of our most popular trips & we think it’s easy to see why from the photos!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers at Testwood Lakes Sailability for another fantastic day
Games Afternoon
The weather has been absolutely glorious today so we decided to make the most of the sunshine with a games afternoon in our beautiful garden. We started with a round of badminton, followed by skittles & quoits
