Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Shawford Springs Care Home

Viva Las Vegas!
Recently we had a very special visitor here at Shawford Springs… none other than the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll himself, Mr Elvis Presley! (aka the fantastic Elvis tribute act Craig )
We decided to arrange a special visit from the King, after discovering that he is our lovely resident Richard’s favourite singer.
Everyone had an absolutely fantastic time Rockin’ & Rollin’ to Elvis’ biggest hits, so we’d like to say a big thank you to Craig for a brilliant afternoon!

Delightful dahlias
This week we visited Gilberts Dahlias to enjoy their glorious dahlia field, which is currently in full bloom & looking absolutely beautiful. The array of colours really were a sight to behold & who knew there were such a vast variety of different dahlia varieties!

Out and about in the community - Long Barn
This week we visited the beautiful Long Barn in Alresford for coffee & cake. We also enjoyed taking a wander around the shop & plant area before heading back home for lunch.
Thank you to all the staff for being so friendly & welcoming, we will certainly be back for a return visit.

Rainy day Bowling
Recently we had to postpone one of our planned outings due to bad weather, so we decided to take a trip to Tenpin in Southampton instead for a round of bowling!
Everyone had a great time & for some it was their first time bowling - which proves that you are never too old to try something new! Well done to David who was the bowling champ!

Cocktails and Jazz
What better way to spend an afternoon ..... cocktails and Jazz....

Time for tea....
Yesterday morning we enjoyed a lovely outing to Daisy’s Tea Room in Fair Oak for tea & cake.
A big thank you to the lovely staff for making us feel so welcome.
