Activities at Shelburne Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Shelburne Lodge Care Home

Pet therapy at Shelburne Lodge!

Shelburne Lodge had a wonderful visit from our friends at Performing Pets who bought along some lovely cuddly bunnies, who are just 12 weeks old.

Everyone enjoyed meeting them and had lots of cuddles. We always look forward to seeing our lovely furry friends and cant wait to see who Performing pets bring to meet us next month.

A visit from 3 little Piglets.

Shelburne Lodge would like to say a massive thank you to Performing Pets who visited us this morning with 3 beautiful baby piglets!

The piglets are 4 weeks old and everyone enjoyed having a cuddle and giving them a bottle of milk!

Pet therapy is one of the regular sessions our residents enjoy at Shelburne Lodge, all part of our like enrichment program.

Life enrichment at Shelburne Lodge.

Did you know that our activities team creates weekly schedule of activities, life enrichment sessions and entertainment, based on residents’ interests and passions.  Residents recieve a copy and it is displayed throughout the home so residents can plan their week. Families and loved ones are welcome to join the fun and intersting sessions.

We love organising and planning activities and this week we have prepared something special, contact us to find out more!

A voice in a million.

What an absolutely wonderful afternoon we had yesterday at Shelburne Lodge. We were joined by FionaHarrison - A Voice in a Million, who entertained us with songs and outfits of yesteryear.

Dementia Action Week

Here at Shelburne Lodge we’ve planned a variety of fun-filled activities for Dementia Action Week.

During the week, our residents learnt more about the importance and emotional benefits of singing, music and physical exercises through themed singalongs, gentle exercise sessions and live entertainment.

Today we also had the opportunity to host our very own Memory Cafe with Barchester’s Dementia Care Specialist Leon Smith. Thank you very much for coming in, Leon.

We raised awareness for those living with Dementia and had a lovely time.

International Nurses Day

Coinciding with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, International Nurses Day, held on Friday 12th May, is a day to celebrate nurses and care staff around the world. Residents and staff at Shelburne Lodge care home in High Wycombe, were happy to get involved by hosting a much deserved Nurses Party and visits to the local community and Wycombe Hospital.

In 2023, the theme for International Nurses’ Day is Our Nurses. Our Future.  The International Council of Nurses is launching a global campaign to set out what it wants for nursing in the future in order to address global health challenges and improve global health for all.  International Nurses’ Day is a day to give thanks for the dedication of care givers everywhere, who go above and beyond the call of duty to deliver extraordinary care and support.
