Activities at Shelburne Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Surprises Easter delivery!

We delivered a chocolate hamper and Easter colouring cards to the reception class teacher, Katie Flawn at Church of England School in High Wycombe this week. We are really looking forward to a visit by a group of the children in her class who have made their own special Easter cards for our residents - look out for the photo on our Facebook page!

Residents and their loved ones back together with indoor visiting!

For residents at Shelburne Lodge the long awaited reunion with one family member has become a reality, as one single named visitor is now allowed to visit each resident in their bedroom.

Despite the need for testing and social distancing, it was still welcome news for so many residents and their family members to be able to meet in the comfort of their bedroom. Residents and their relatives have enjoyed getting together and catching up face to face

Martin, resident at Shelburne Lodge said: “Nothing beats seeing my wife Pat in the comfort of my bedroom and being able to hold her hand again. This was a special moment, and I was over the moon.”

Sharon Pither, General Manager at the home, said: “This is the first cautious step towards having a buzz of visitors in the home again. It was wonderful to see how happy it made the residents and their relatives. We have a great booking system in place to ensure the visits are well organised, and visitors are doing a great job of following the safety measures to keep everyone as safe as possible.  For those that are not able to come inside the home we are pleased to be able to continue to offer visits in our visiting suite and of course Skype and Facetime calls for those living further away.”

Special delivery from Wycombe Abbey School!

All our residents received a gift from a lovely hamper with homemade orange fudge and bunches of daffodils from Wycombe Abbey School and Holroyd Howe catering. The note attached to the hamper said 'just a little something to brighten up your day at Shelburne Lodge in these strange times'. Certainly a winning #randomactsofkindness and appreciated by everyone at Shelburne Lodge
