Activities at Silverbirch House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Silverbirch House Care Home

Duke of Edinburgh

We are very excited to welcome our new volunteers to Silverbirch House.

As part of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, the friends will complete their volunteering experience with us at the home.

They came for their initial induction with Luba and Angela, the homes life enrichment team, and our residents are very much looking forward to seeing them on a regular occasion!

Inter-generational Fun!

We have been lucky enough to have a visit from the local Home Education Group.

Some children from the group came to meet our residents to help build on their inter-generational activity.

One of our residents Marion, loved meeting the children, she used to be a teacher so seeing them bought back lots of lovely memories for her.

We look forward to welcoming them to the home again soon!

Sarah, The Violinist.

A beautiful way to start the week.

Sarah came to visit us this morning, she plays the violin so brilliantly and the residents thoroughly enjoyed it.

Speaking to the residents afterwards they said they loved the variety of music Sarah played and they are already looking forward to her next visit to us.

The Big Garden Bird-watch

The Big Garden Bird-watch at Silverbirch House

Over the weekend, we took part in the RSPB Big Garden Bird-watch. The residents spent time working through the list of possible birds they could spot and checked of the ones they had seen.

We are lucky enough to be placed in a wonderful location that looks over woodland and fields, the perfect place for birds to nest and settle.

We will continue to keep our eyes peeled, even though the bird-watch is over, we are expecting to see a lot more beautiful birds as the spring rolls in.

Trip out to the Garden Centre

We recently took a trip out in the minibus to the local garden centre, whilst we were there, we couldn't resist stopping in the cafe for a hot drink a scone.

It was then time for us to have a good look around where the manager stopped to tell us all about Woody the dog.

We had a lovely visit and look forward to the next!

Monet Day!

Here at Silverbirch House, some of our residents have expressed a real interest in art, so we decided to have an afternoon dedicated to Claude Monet.

We read through books, looked at pictures of his art and even had a Monet painting here to see and discuss.

Keep an eye out for the next artist we cover!
