Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Rebecca Harrowing

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.

Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.

Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.

Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.

Pumpkin fun!!

We had a lovely afternoon with some pumpkin inspired art. Residents certainly got creative with beads, buttons and paper. Some beautiful pumpkins were produced.

World Heart Day

Today, residents and staff commemorated World Heart Day through a lovely day of heart themed activities and nutritional treats

Our residents started the day by talking about what makes our own hearts happy. Sharing the special memories and items that we hold dear before filling our paper hearts. It was a really heart-warming morning spent together This afternoon, our lovely hostess, Donna came along to help us learn about how food and drink can help to keep our hearts healthy, through a variety of word games. Our amazing kitchen team also provided a tasty and nutritious, fresh fruit platter and some beautiful heart biscuits to help us celebrate the day

World's Biggest Coffee morning

World's biggest coffee morning, What an amazing morning we had here at Tennyson Wharf, taking part in the world's biggest coffee morning for Macmillan. We had a great time welcoming everyone into our home and hosting this special event with a spectacular range of cakes and tasty treats to enjoy as well as a great raffle

It was also great to welcome Helen, who works for Gainsborough Macmillan, along to share her knowledge and advice to others and members from our local community. Together we raised £177.59  so thank you everyone who helped and supported us today .

World Mental Health Day

At Tennyson Wharf we recognised World Mental Health Day.   Our residents  spent some time talking about why our mental health is just as important as our physical health. We had a morning of positivity, filling our jar with wonderful, affirming words about ourselves and others around us. It was lovely to hear so much positivity being shared helping us boost our self-esteem. We continued to boost our self-esteem in the afternoon with a well-deserved pamper session. We enjoyed facials, hand massage, foot soaks and nails.
