Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Rebecca Harrowing
Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.
Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.
Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Tennyson Wharf Care Home

Tennyson Wharf Honour Nursing Colleagues
Coinciding with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, International Nurses Day, held on Friday 12th May, is a day to celebrate nurses and care staff around the world. Residents and staff at Tennyson Wharf care home in Burton Water, were happy to get involved by hosting a much deserved presentation to our wonderful team of nurses.
International Nurses’ Day is a day to give thanks for the dedication of care givers everywhere, who go above and beyond the call of duty to deliver extraordinary care and support. Tennyson Wharf was proud to not only honour our homes amazing nurses but also nurses in our wider community as we visited the fabulous nurses at the BMI Lincoln Hospital.

Local Care Home Hosts Intergenerational Playgroup
Tennyson Wharf Care Home, in Burton Waters, Lincoln have recently hosted an intergenerational playgroup for residents and members of the local community. The event, which took place on Thursday 11th May welcomed the group ‘Caterpillar Music’ to enjoy music, games and activities with residents at the home.
The group of mums and toddlers also enjoyed sing along with residents to their favourite songs such as traditional and favourite nursery rhymes. Much to the delight of our residents.
The catering team at the care home provide a selection of healthy snacks on the day, including hand cut fruits and vegetables.

Coronation Day Celebrations
Excitement was in the air as we all celebrated the highly anticipated Coronation of King Charles III in style.
Our home was beautifully decorated with themed flags, banners and red, white and blue balloons, setting the stage for a grand royal afternoon tea party.
The whole home came together, along with families, friends and local community members to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering. Our talented chef prepared an assortment of delicious sweet and savoury treats for all to enjoy, accompanied by a glass of prosecco.

St George's Day
In honour of St George, patron saint of England, we decorated our home and enjoyed some delicious homemade themed cakes.
We spent some time learning important facts about St George and completed lots of St George's Day themed activities using Oomph Wellness.
We had a wonderful day, enjoyed by all.

Visit from Harmony Lincs
We enjoyed a visit from Harmony Lincs who came and sang for our residents and staff.
It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by everyone.
Thank you for coming to entertain us and we hope to welcome you back to Tennyson Wharf very soon.

Trip to the pub!
Over the weekend we took residents for a trip to our local pub Woodcocks, for a drink or two!
For some of our residents, a trip to the pub can be associated with many happy memories from their younger years and with Family. We are so lucky to have a lovely pub right on our doorstep for residents to enjoy, especially now the weather is improving!
