Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Rebecca Harrowing
Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.
Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.
Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Weekly visit from Caterpillar Music
Monday morning is Caterpillar Music time for the residents of Tennyson Wharf!
This intergenerational group encourages communication and social skills, both for the children and our residents.
It helps develop language and reading through shared activities and increases confidence and self-esteem all round.
Falls Stop Event
We had a great time welcoming Imp Healthcare to Tennyson Wharf to celebrate their Fallstop programme.
Our residents learnt many valuable things from the afternoon. We will be peddling our way over to Lincoln Cathedral, with our map of how far we are travelling.
We are promoting physical activity with our Healthcare Pedal Exerciser supplied by Imp Healthcare for our residents to use.
Starlings virtual talk with Royal Parks London
We enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.
Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.
The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Happy Hat Day” with the children from Caterpillar Music Newark
We took part in “Happy Hat Day” with Anna and the children from Caterpillar Music Newark
This happens every Monday morning at 11.15am a fantastic intergenerational workshop boosting many important needs for our residents.
Our residents actively engage, sing & dance in this wonderful activity… evoking many happy feelings.
Move-It Mobility
A fun morning feeling motivated by Chris from Move-It Mobility UK Ltd
Our residents look forward to him visiting us here at Tennyson Wharf, he always makes us smile.
A fun, social, physical & energetic morning with Movement to music boosting our residents esteem needs.
Friendly café
Our Tennyson Wharf residents have spent time engaging socially with each other in our friendly café.
A sensory flower arranging activity gave residents lots of enjoyment, evoking many memories of past hobbies and bringing out their creative talents, adding the finishing touches of colour to our communal areas.
We continued with an amusing game of traditional dominoes.
