Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Rebecca Harrowing
Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.
Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.
Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.

Life at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Kindness at Christmas
We are hugely grateful for our Christmas Tree, given to our home by our wonderful resident here at Tennyson Wharf, Peter.
Peter is staying here on a short break and wanted to give something back and thought it would be a lovely idea to gift us this wonderful Christmas Tree for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you also to our wonderful gardener, Derick for making it possible.
Christmas Cookery Demonstration
We had a fantastic time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Christmas-inspired live virtual cookery demonstration.
Chef Alex showed us how to make and decorate a gingerbread house for the upcoming festivities. Our residents truly enjoyed the experience and cannot wait to put their skills to the test.
To make things even more exciting, we will have the opportunity to make our own gingerbread house and enter a themed competition, where Chef Alex will judge the entries.
All in all the afternoon was an absolute triumph!
Christmas Sing-a-long
A wonderful visit from a family member that turned into a Christmas sing along.
Hazel is staying with us on respite care here at Tennyson Wharf. Her daughter Caroline visited from London and offered us a fantastic Christmas concert playing piano and singing.
Our residents gathered at our large reception and enjoyed the beautiful afternoon.
So much Christmas joy and cheer in our home, thank you for this wonderful Christmas gift to us all.
Christmas Jumper Day
We had a wonderful time dressing up in aid of Save the Children’s annual fundraising event, Christmas Jumper Day.
Our residents were encouraged to borrow or decorate their own special Christmas jumpers and raise awareness for children in need all around the world.
It was a wonderful day, enjoyed by all.
Christmas Wreath Making
This morning at Tennyson Wharf, our residents have been creative by making and designing their own door wreaths.
With a range of different materials, our residents have been responsive & worked well together, creating lovely Christmas wreaths.
Visit from Musical Students
This afternoon, at Tennyson Wharf we had the pleasure of welcoming third year musical students, from Lincoln University into our home.
A fabulous afternoon of professional singing with percussion, a real treat for our residents and a great start to our Christmas countdown.
