Activities at Thistle Hill Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Thistle Hill Care Home

Residents enjoy afternoon of live entertainment

Residents at Thistle Hill care home in Knaresborough enjoyed a unique musical performance with popular vocalist, Rochelle.

Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as Rochelle performed many familiar hits including “over the rainbow” and finishing with the national anthem. We treated resident’s their family and friends to a tasty assortment of cakes along with their teas and coffees throughout the afternoon.

Cornish Seal Sanctuary

A big thank you to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for the fantastic live virtual event today!

Residents across our services loved seeing the seals up close and learning about the incredible work the sanctuary does to protect them and other wildlife in Cornwall as well.

Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.

High Tea Event

In September, our home was graced with a delightful afternoon as residents, colleagues, and relatives came together for a charming high tea. It provided a splendid chance to socialize, savour tasty delights, and enjoy the pleasure of each other's company.

Summer Fete

Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at the home to enjoy a Summer Fete that was held in the home’s grounds at the end of August

We enjoyed hosting a variety of activities throughout the day, including a BBQ, tombola stall, live entertainment and games which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.

Our colleagues made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. .

66th Wedding Anniversary

It was a privilege to join Sheila and her husband Reg as they celebrated 66 years of marriage with their family.

Our sensory room was turned into their party venue for the afternoon.

Our Second Chef Kamil and our hospitality team pulled out all the stops with a beautiful celebratory cake, buffet and bubbly to toast the couple.

Elsewhere in the home residents enjoyed a glass of bubbly and wished them well too.

Silent Disco Fun

The lights were down low as our Memory Lane Cafe was transformed into a neon dance floor.

We welclomed back Pete Goldup - The Silent Disco DJ as he hosted another wonderful afternoon of music and fun.

Pete, with his 40 pairs of headphones, projected music far beyond the main lounge areas and all the way into bedrooms, bringing the music and fun to the whole home.

Residents, visitors and colleagues thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
