Activities at Thistle Hill Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Thistle Hill Care Home

Residents enjoy silent disco
Residents and guests at Thistle Hill turned its lights down low this afternoon to enjoy another neon lit silent disco. Pete and his 40 pairs of wifi headphones not only filled our dance floor with music, but projected it across the home and into bedrooms and lounges around the building, so the whole home could experience the fun.
Pete Goldup – The Silent Disco played a varied assortment of popular music which had residents and staff dancing and singing along. The hospitality team at the home also provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for guests to enjoy during the party.

Cuddles with Ruby the PAT dog
Ruby the therapy dog visited bedrooms and lounges giving out cuddles and love to the delight of our residents.
The benefits of a visit like this are enormous for the residents. Residents who rarely interact become transformed with happiness and wellbeing by the visit of a beautiful PAT dog like Ruby.

Resident centred activities
Residents always enjoy quality resident centred time, and this is especially important for those who spend a lot of time in their bedrooms. The activities that we do are chosen by the residents and tailored for them.
Some choose pamper treats, others enjoy board games, music or arts and craft sessions. At Thistle Hill we like to go the extra mile to make this time special for each resident.

Residents enjoy mosaic workshop
Thistle Hill has taken a new approach to engage its residents living with dementia with an in-house workshop project to create mosaic structures for their balcony area. The balcony area is very popular with the residents and they enjoy personalising the sensory space.
The sessions have been specially tailored for people with dementia. The first session took place with a small group of residents. The activity proved very popular with the group. One of the residents said “this is wonderful”. The project is ongoing and it is hoped that many residents will be able to take part in small group workshops.

Some Mother's do Ave Em
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.

Residents enjoy afternoon of live entertainment
Residents at Thistle Hill care home in Knaresborough enjoyed a unique musical performance with popular vocalist, Rochelle.
Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as Rochelle performed many familiar hits including “over the rainbow” and finishing with the national anthem. We treated resident’s their family and friends to a tasty assortment of cakes along with their teas and coffees throughout the afternoon.
