Activities at Thistle Hill Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kim and Dave Wow the residents at Thistle Hill

Residents and visitors at Thistle Hill Care Centre enjoyed a fabulous afternoon of music and entertainment by Kim and Dave.

Wow is the only word to describe their talented and energetic performance.  Residents couldn’t help but sing along and dance the afternoon away.  Some of the residents had alternative words for some of the songs which caused much hilarity.  Who knew there could be so many variations of the song “Daisy Daisy”!

Soap Sensations

Our residents made their very own soaps, mixing the ingredients, colour, and adding designer perfume. They look and smell amazing. Hazel was so happy with the soaps, she presented one to our General Manager, Mandy!

The excitement didn’t stop there. There was sounds of excitement  around the room when we announced to sell these beautiful bars of soap at our upcoming summer fair.

Home celebrate 'Yorkshire Day'

Residents at the Thistle Hill were proud to celebrate all things Yorkshire on Yorkshire Day, August 1st. As the home proudly hosted a ‘Yorkshire Tea’ tea party as part of its celebrations.

Residents at Thistle Hill celebrated the largest county in the UK by listening to some traditional Yorkshire music, sampling some Yorkshire delicacies such as Yorkshire puddings and ales

The celebrations were not only taking place in the home as the home also gifted our NHS heroes at Harrogate Hospital with a selection of Yorkshire Tea goodies!

Residents enjoy live entertainment

Residents and guests enjoyed a fabulous afternoon of music and entertainment by Kim and Dave. Kim and Dave from Halifax performed a selection of summertime and classic sounds including Rock and Roll as well as songs that everyone knew and could sing along with.

Residents sang, danced and clapped the afternoon away with Kim and Dave as the duo sang that final song “Daisy Daisy”.  In fact, the audience had a few variations on the well-known song that produced a lot of laughs at the end!

Homes come together for 'Big Quiz'

Barchester care homes and hospitals nationwide linked together for a fantastic quiz in celebration of Barchester’s 100th live virtual event.

Residents engaged in a variety of questions ranging from historical trivia to visual puzzles and brainteasers.

Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Honey steals the show!

Honey the dog stole the show as residents and guests enjoyed an afternoon of fun with a live performance that took place at the home.  Richard performed a medley of uplifting songs from Elvis, Frank Sinatra and The Carpenters to name but a few in the Memory Lane Café area of the home.

Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as Richard sang and honey performed her tricks.  After the performance residents enjoyed afternoon tea in the café and lots of cuddles with Honey.
