Activities at Westgate House Care Home
Our role in the home is fundamental to ensuring that our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. We strive to provide a stimulating, creative & varied range of activities & events in the home, which everyone can enjoy whether they prefer social group engagement or one to one interaction. Residents choice is what we aim to provide to the best of our abilities. We enjoy being creative, sharing projects and discussing with our residents the kind of activities they would like to enjoy. Both indoor and outdoor activities are offered to cater for all tastes as well as regular outings to local places of interest.

Life at Westgate House Care Home
Walking Club
Here at Westgate House, we run a weekly walking club. This week the residents walked to Westfield’s shopping centre and did some Christmas shopping. They loved seeing the Christmas trees and all the decorations and most all eating some yummy donuts!
Westgate House welcomes a new resident!
One of our residents Wilma, who has been living at Westgate House for five months now, thought it would be rather nice to have a cat to keep her company. We were happy to oblige, and also thought it would be a great idea.
Meet Gizmo! Gizmo the kitten is five months old and has been with us for one month now. Wilma has trained him, and he ventures around the home and the other residents love him also. Gizmo has been a great addition to the home.
Wear it pink day!
As part of wear it pink day our residents had a lovely tea party in our beautiful café. They did some arts & crafts to decorate the home and had their nails painted pink. Staff wore pink and donated £1 to breast cancer. We managed to raise £46.50!! We thank everybody who took part.
Condolence Book
London borough of Newham delivered us a condolence book for the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The book is for our residents, staff and families to pay their respects to the Queen and leave their own personal message. The book will be present throughout the official ten day mourning period ending the 19 September 2022 and then will be collected and preserved as a permanent memento.
The Mayor visits
The Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz, visited our home on Friday 16 September. The reason for the visit was due to us receiving a book of Condolence for HM Queen Elizabeth II, from the London borough of Newham, so our residents, staff and families could leave their own personal message. The mayor came along to meet some of our residents and staff to have a chat about the Queens passing and to thank everyone for their written tributes. It was a nice surprise and the residents enjoyed having a nice chat and a cup of tea.
Fundraising event
On Friday 19th August our activity team and a couple of the residents set up a stall outside our care home selling picture frames, that we had accumulated over the years. It was a lovely day for it and created a lot of attention from passers-by. They managed to raise £148!! Which goes towards the residents activity fund. Well done to everyone involved.
