Activities at Westgate House Care Home
Our role in the home is fundamental to ensuring that our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. We strive to provide a stimulating, creative & varied range of activities & events in the home, which everyone can enjoy whether they prefer social group engagement or one to one interaction. Residents choice is what we aim to provide to the best of our abilities. We enjoy being creative, sharing projects and discussing with our residents the kind of activities they would like to enjoy. Both indoor and outdoor activities are offered to cater for all tastes as well as regular outings to local places of interest.

Life at Westgate House Care Home
National Carers Week
This week we have been celebrating all our fantastic carers. Barchester healthcare sends a huge thank you to all our carers, for all you do, every single shift, to help those in our care to celebrate life and live each day to the fullest. We are very proud that you are part of our Barchester family! As a small token of thanks they sent us two Cadburys chocolate hampers, which went down a treat!
Jubilee Celebrations
We celebrated the Queens Platinum jubilee on Thursday 2 June with a Big jubilee garden lunch. We offered a three course meal followed by entertainment. We invited family and friends to bring along a picnic basket. The entertainment was fantastic, everybody was dancing or moving in their seats, clapping hands. The residents enjoyed posing for the photos. We had so much fun and the sun was shining. I think we did the Queen proud.
A School Visit
We had Godwin junior school, year three children come and visit our residents yesterday. They are currently doing a music project and asked if they could come and sing for us and of course we said YES! The residents had a lovely time joining in singing the songs. It was great to see lots of smiles.
Dementia Awareness Week
As part of Dementia awareness week some of our residents made their own blue flower, which means you are living with Dementia. They used clay and paints. They had great fun doing the activity.
International Nurses Day
Our residents helped us celebrate international nurses day. They prepared the garden for tea and cakes, setting the tables and watering the flowers. We also have two residents who were former nurses, they also enjoyed the celebrations. The nurses enjoyed there treat, tucking into the lovely cakes!! It was a lovely day and great to mark the occasion for our wonderful nurses.
Easter Crafts
Our residents have had a fun filled Easter with lots going on, with arts and crafts making beautiful decorations for the home. They had a garden party with lots of Easter treats and the sun was shining! We also had entertainment by Ashley who sang all the golden oldies and got the residents and staff on their feet. There was something for everyone!
