What an Olympics we have had!

Our residents at Wimborne donned their Berets and tucked in to some wonderful french food made by our wonderful chefs. 

It's been a joyous two weeks watching the competitors take to their expert areas and go for Gold. 

All of our residents have enjoyed watching and cheering GB on! 

Our residents creative minds were exercised this week where they were tasked with bringing their interpretation of the beach to life. 

We got to use different shades and colours and explore what the beach means to our residents and what each of those individual colours means to them.

We think our residents are undiscovered Picassos' with many talents but using their imaginations to create such colours and masterpieces...  next stop, Tate Modern!

Here at Wimborne, we like to keep our residents as active as possible and there is no better way to bring out their competitive nature then with a game of Tenpin Bowling. 

Everyone who joined in the fun, started to enjoy watching the scoreboard points increase, especially with the score of half strikes. 

If this was an Olympic sport, our residents at Wimborne would be in line for a GOLD!

Barchester partnered up with the yummy Millac brand to organise an Ice cream sundae competition and the winner receives a visit from an ice cream truck for all our residents so of course we had to participate as who doesn’t love ice cream! We started out the day in the sunshine designing our perfect ice cream sundae and even came up with creative names for our scrumptious sweet treats. Our favourite from our resident dune was “Double Trouble” raspberry and vanilla topped with whipped cream, she said this name also relates to her as she was always called trouble! We then enjoyed an afternoon of sundae creations topped with Millac cream. We hope to bring home the win for Wimborne.  

Our residents here are lucky to be visited by the “Cycling without age” charity most weeks where they are taken out on an electric bike around the sea front and to many other places, this for many of our residents is a highlight to their week. Once finding out the charity was at risk of shutting down we knew we needed to do something. Here at Wimborne we organised a 20 mile charity walk from our sister home in Denemand onto another home in Waterlooville and ending back in our home enjoying a big celebration after a dip in the ocean to finish off! We are proud to of raised over £1500 for this charity and hope it has raised awareness for this amazing charity to gain even more donations.

The summer is here! To many of our residents Wimbledon is the epitome of summer and watching matches throughout the tournament has been part of their yearly ritual! We had the matches being shown throughout the tournament in our lounge, enjoyed many balloon tennis competitions and ended the season with an afternoon of strawberries and cream. Everyone enjoyed a tennis quiz and many remember so many famous players and matches and even shared some of their favourite memories playing tennis growing up. We are so glad to of supported our residents continuing their traditions.
