Activities at The Wingfield Care Home

Here at The Wingfield our activities team provide a varied and interesting range of activities for all residents. We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) and we take pride in delivering activities that will enhance residents lives and bring happiness and a sense of purpose. Our cooking activities are very popular, as well as the regular book clubs, coffee mornings, skittle matches and bus trips. We provide one to one support for those who are unable to attend activities and we have tea dances, musicians, quizzes, music and movement, as well as our giant scrabble board! But most importantly we have fun! Relatives are always welcome and there is always much laughter and smiling faces during our activities. We take pride in what we do and we continually strive to enhance residents lives through meaningful activity.

Celebrating Chinese New Year

This year we celebrated Chinese New Year by decorating the home, sharing a delicious oriental feast all prepared and served by our chef. We then made and gave traditional good luck charms and watched videos of dancing dragons and lions. Marion said  " I always love learning about different cultures and traditions and the videos were fascinating to watch."

Residents and Staff receive Covid 19 Vaccination

Residents were delighted to receive their first dose of the Corona virus vaccine without having to leave the home. Trowbridge Health Centre led the vaccinations. Peter General Manger said "The health centre were fantastic they put everyone at ease and made them feel comfortable. We are so grateful for their support."

Making new friends through pen pals

Students from local schools wanted to fulfil an act of kindness by setting up a Pen Pal Scheme. They have started writing to residents at The Wingfield. Students from St. John school and The Mead wrote lovely letters and painted pictures which were hand delivered by their Teachers. Residents were thrilled to read all about them and enjoyed writing back with a thank you card.

New Year toast

A New year toast offers the ideal opportunity to celebrate new beginnings. The tradition in The Wingfield is to raise a glass and to ring in a new blessing for the coming year. Have a blessed and very Happy New Year everyone.

Presents for everyone

Staff always make Christmas such a special time of year for our residents. With a programme stacked full of activities but also making sure that everyone has a present that has been handpicked just for them. This year Santa and his sleigh trolley hand delivered these beautiful boxed gifts to everyone.

Christmas Hamper Winner

Staff were offered the chance to win a hamper stocked full of goodies. You just had to be in it to win it. The numbers were drawn on Christmas Eve and we are pleased to say that the winner was Antonio our second Chef. He was so pleased and couldn't wait to share it with his family.
