Badgeworth's Honey Bees

Badgeworth Court residents and visitors enjoyed a very interesting talk from Harry's Honey our very own bee keeper. Owner of Harry's Honey Ian keeps some of his hives here at Badgeworth Court. The honey enjoyed in the home and it really is the tastiest honey doesn't even cover food miles, just yards!

Ian's talks are fascinating and he bought in some of his bees in this colony of the hive there would be in the region of 6,000-8,000 bees. When the honey is made in the height of the summer months the bees grow in number to 60,000-80,000. There is one queen in the hive who lives for 3-4 years. Harry's Honey not only produce honey, they breed queens and train bee keepers.

The location in Badgeworth Court's apple orchard is one of the prime locations, half a ton of honey was produced in 7-8 days last year. The company sell to local farm shops, restaurants and Cotswold ice cream makers. When supplying restaurants the honey is literally supplied in buckets!

After the talk everyone was able to get up close to the bees and watch them working. Ian also chatted to residents individually answering their questions. Thank you so much for your time and for the delicious honey.
