Activities at Chestnut Gardens Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Rikardas Cirunas
Hello, my name is Rikardus and I am the Activities Co-ordinator at Chestnut Gardens Care Home.
I have worked for Barchester for five years and was so excited to be part of such a excellent team at this beautiful home.
Every day I look forward to supporting our residents in living a full and enriched life and especially enjoy the outdoor activities that we arrange to the local attractions, even if the weather can be unpredictable at times.
We also hold loads of varied internal activities so everyone is catered for and the musicians and therapy animals are a very big hit.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Chestnut Gardens Care Home

Zoo Afternoon
It was an afternoon full of animal mischief again when the mobile zoo came to visit the home.
Residents at Chestnut Gardens were so relaxed and not at all worried about holding the snake and spider in their hands along with the other small creatures brought to the home .

Cheese and Wine Evening
Cheese and Wine days are very popular here in the home , what a nice time to relax and enjoy some locally sourced cheese's over a nice refreshing glass of wine.

Cake Day
Our residents enjoyed an afternoon of fun when they all got involved in cake making and decorating. The best bit was once the decorating was finished they enjoyed their own home made cakes. We certainly have quite a few talented cake makers in our home .

Chinese New Year
The residents, family and guests had a wonderful time yesterday celebrating the Chinese New Year at our Monthly Community Café . They had fantastic singer who performed a mixture of different songs including traditional Chinese music. During the afternoon they were served with some traditional Chinese food , fortune cookies and always our lovely cakes.

Shopping Trip
A nice local afternoon shopping trip to Lucinda's in Purley for a couple of the residents as the weather improved. . The ladies loved their afternoon in this Womenswear Boutique and afterwards a nice hot drink was in order before heading back to our lovely home.
