Activities at Chestnut Gardens Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Rikardas Cirunas

Activities Co Ordinator

Hello, my name is Rikardus and I am the Activities Co-ordinator at Chestnut Gardens Care Home.

I have worked for Barchester for five years and was so excited to be part of such a excellent team at this beautiful home.

Every day I look forward to supporting our residents in living a full and enriched life and especially enjoy the outdoor activities that we arrange to the local attractions, even if the weather can be unpredictable at times.

We also hold loads of varied internal activities so everyone is catered for and the musicians and therapy animals are a very big hit.

Life at Chestnut Gardens Care Home

Holy Communion

We were delighted when Reverend Hilary Fife visited Chestnut Gardens. She conducted a special service and holy communion for residents. Everyone came together to hear readings, sing hymns and receive a spiritual blessing. keeping up with events and faith is important to some of our residents so ensuring we recognise this and continue to make it happen mean a lot to us.

Play Time Fun

We love to welcome visitors of all ages. It was a delight when some of the children from a local nursery popped in to show us their toys. Everyone loved going back to their own childhood, happy memories and an afternoon of reminiscence.

From our home to yours Merry Christmas

Residents just love to make new memories as well as cherishing old ones and traditions too. A family photo by the fireplace didn't disappoint this year. With funny faces pulled and lots of laughter at the after shots. We want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Panto Time oh no its not!

What a side splitting, jaw aching fun time everyone had. When Rah Rah Theatre company paid a visit. Residents were treated to a great and unique performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. Everyone is already looking forward to next years visit.

Laleham School Choir visit

Another day another Christmas carol performance. This time from the delightful children at Laleham School. They sang an array of Christmas carols and got everyone joining in singing and tapping their feet.

Fairytale at Christmas

Residents were transported back in time with a wonderful tale of Christmas. Andy Copps visited and told the story beautifully. He aptly names it the chestnutters at Christmas too. With props that captured everyone attention it was a lovely event.
