Activities at Chestnut Gardens Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Rikardas Cirunas

Activities Co Ordinator

Hello, my name is Rikardus and I am the Activities Co-ordinator at Chestnut Gardens Care Home.

I have worked for Barchester for five years and was so excited to be part of such a excellent team at this beautiful home.

Every day I look forward to supporting our residents in living a full and enriched life and especially enjoy the outdoor activities that we arrange to the local attractions, even if the weather can be unpredictable at times.

We also hold loads of varied internal activities so everyone is catered for and the musicians and therapy animals are a very big hit.

Life at Chestnut Gardens Care Home

Cumnor House Choir

Chestnut Gardens were recently joined by the girls from Cummnor House. They treated residents to a wonderful choir performance all beautifully rehearsed and sang. They came with hampers full of goodies for everyone. We cant wait to have them back again.

Party time

With any excuse to throw a party. Residents and staff had a wonderful afternoon of Champagne and canapes getting ready for the live roll out of the new digital care plan system. Everyone was treated to a smorgasbord of treats and sweets.

The Bar is Open

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of live music and their favourite tipple. Staff asked everyone what their favourite drink was when visiting the pub. Then it came to life. With drinks ranging from Beer, to wine and others in between. With Mary requesting a good old fashioned snowball.

Getting Festive

With Christmas fast approaching. Our mini bus was out and about again. This time our residents visited the local christmas market. With lots of stalls full of trinkets and gifts. It made for a lovely afternoon out.

Making Dreams come true

Maureen used to be a lingerie buyer for Marks and Spencers. When the home heard about her very successful career. They set to work contacting the store. They spoke with a director who remembered Maureen. She was delighted to make up a this is your life style book in honour of her fabulous career with them. From photos of Maureen in her hey day as well as the story of the department that Maureen was so fond of.

RAF Presentation

Residents and guests were joined by local Volunteer Linda from Kenley Revival. As she took everyone on a trip back to WWI. She talked about those that fought there and stories of survival and hope. Everyone really enjoyed the afternoon and we will be holding more talks and presentaions in the coming months.
