Activities at Glenroyd Care Home

Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Agata Prendota

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.

It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home

Enjoying the autumn sunshine

Yesterday the residents at Glenroyd Care Home enjoyed making the most of the autumn’s sunshine by sitting in our garden.

Our residents have been loving the nice warm weather. We have been sitting outside and having some lovely chats reminiscing on past summer where we have had lovely weather and nattering about the summer holidays we used to go on with our families. We also chatted about autumn season and admired the colours of our garden.

It’s always lovely to hear everyone’s experiences and we love to share our memories while having a cup of coffee with the company of our favourite marshmallows.

Long Service Award

Jean and Lynsday at Glenroyd Care Home have received a prestigious long service award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare.

Lynsday started at Barchester in October 1997, Jean started at Barchester in October 2002, and staff with the company of our residents gathered recently to see them being presented with a gold, 25 years and 10 years service badges, a gift vouchers and a flower bushes to celebrate the occasion. We’ve raised a glass of lemonade together to celebrate and appreciate their dedication and hard work throughout the years.

Sonia Smith, general manager of Glenroyd Care Home said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 25 years and 10 years of loyal service with Lynsday and Jean. They both demonstrated their dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at Glenroyd when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with Lyndsey and Jean.”
